I’m a little more organised this year compared to last, and spent Wednesday scouring the Internet to put together my Christmas menu. Wow, a whole two weeks before! This is something that I usually put off until the very last minute as I see to all of the other urgent things like – presents! I also don’t have the pressure to be super prepared because it’s usually just us on the day. I still like to do something special though, and the kids adore the pretty table and whole experience.
Regardless of the last minute planning the previous year, the menu was absolutely perfect, so much so that I prepared it again a couple of times for various dinner parties. So if you’re after some more inspiration, take a look.
This will be my Christmas menu this year:
Fois Gras
Barbecued prawns with pickled and grilled cucumber
Snapper with saffron braised potato and green olive dressing
Simple salad
Tipsy Raspberry Trifle (I leave the tipsy part out for the little people)
We’ll be doing our traditional vanilla sugar cookies a few days before to give to the neighbours, but I also love the idea of these sweet edible Christmas decorations:
So what do you plan to cook this year? Do you stick to the same traditional menu, or try something new each year?

We have our traditional Danish Aebleskiever Christmas Eve, then for the last couple of years we have just done a buffet of heavy appetizers. Since all of our kids are grown and gone, it’s a great way for them to drop by when there schedules allow!
I’ve never heard of a Danish Aebleskiever! I had to look it up, yum! Do you have danish decent Cyndi? x
