Spotted Out and About

When I’m out and about, I’m always on the hunt for good ideas, design and decoration – even more so now, since writing this blog. However a lot of the things I see don’t always fit into a story but I think would be a shame not to share it with you, after all, that’s what a blog is all about. So every so often, I’ll do a post with some random iPhone snaps of things that I think are great.

I’ll start with where the idea began yesterday after I saw this fun teapot lamp in the display window of Hawkins and Scuffell, while walking along Jervois Rd, Herne Bay. Crazy huh!

Just after, I had lunch a couple of doors up at Zus and Zo café where I fell in love with these industrial chairs. I love how the bottom base protrudes out along the side, and how the green paint is worn on the metal. They were surprisingly very comfortable for the entire leisurely Sunday lunch. If you do pop into this lovely café, make sure you try the warm Moroccan Chicken salad!

Back at home I searched for a couple of old snaps that I knew I’d have use for one day…

This photo was taken earlier this year at a friend’s house in France. I think that the cactus sitting in the bright orange pot beside the rococo mirror work so well together!

Hold onto your jam jars! We were served a delicious quince, apple and rhubarb crumble in these jars at Hugo’s Manly in Sydney a couple of months ago. The presentation is fantastic don’t you think? Noted for a future dinner party!

I hope that you enjoyed these random finds… The sun is shining here in Auckland, hope it is for you too, where ever you may be. See you Wednesday!

Some great snaps Mel. I’m amazed at what people will make things out of these days (the teapot lamp) it does look good though. Apple crumble served in the jar is so cute.. haven’t seen a restaurant do this before, would be a good way to take dessert on a picnic.
