Today on the blog, a new regular feature where I’ll ask foodies whom I admire, five quick questions. It’s the same concept as “5 decorating questions with…” and I intend to alternate the two.

To begin, I am so excited to introduce Liz & Jewels; two girls living on two continents, meeting virtually on their blog each week, to challenge each other by cooking the same recipes, then styling and photographing them. It’s such a great idea and so interesting to read about any challenges in the recipes they may have faced and how the mood took them while styling it.  The blog is visually beautiful and their charming personalities really shine through. Along with the blog, they have published three cookbooks together with Liz as the designer and Jewels the photographer. To top it off, just a few hours ago they’ve been named by a leading German lifestyle magazine, Brigitte as”cookbook trends” between non other than Jamie Oliver and 12 other cookbook-authors. Go girls!

Over to you Liz & Jewels…

What’s your most memorable meal?

Liz: There have been so many nice meals with family and friends that have been special. Usually the ones that you don’t plan to be special turn out to be special!

Jewels: Quarkkeulchen at the Volkshaus in Leipzig, the city I was born in.

Where do you go to source the best produce for a special dinner?

Liz: I love going on the farmers market that is held twice a week in my town, Muenster. There is a great variety and a lot of the produce is from local farmers. It’s beautiful to see and sniff all the freshness!

Jewels: I don’t like going far distances for my food, so I go to my little store around the corner or I place an order on freshdirect. They deliver my food right to my doorstep.

Who would you invite for your ultimate dinner party mix?

Liz: If it would be possible, I’d love to have dinner with Fred Astaire, Hugh Jackman and my grandmother!

Jewels: For my husband I would invite Barack Obama or John Stuart and for myself I would invite Sarah Jessica Parker.

One of their challenges: Plum Pie with Caramelized Almonds

Fast or slow cooking?

Liz: Since I’m a mother of a two-year old: Definitely  f a s t !!!!

Jewels: FAST!

Food means…

Liz: …. comfort, happiness and spending time with my family!

Jewels: Food is one of the few things my husband and I have in common. It’s kinda like a hobby. Call us Mr and Mrs Michelin. We love finding out about new restaurants and reviewing them together.

Thanks so much Liz & Jewels, what a pleasure it’s been!
