A couple of months ago on a visit to The Department Store, I discovered the incredible botanical creations of  floral designer and stylist, Annie Oxborough. Since then, I’ve thought about her work a lot, so it’s about time I share it with you.

It seems that Annie challenges herself by using almost anything to create a terrarium, from an old drawer to a science beaker or even that old granny vase you happened to miss at the op shop. From there she’ll fill it with an array of different coloured soils, sands and stones and plants. The effect is anything from beautifully simple to dramatic as you can see from the images.

If you’re in Auckland you can pay a visit to her corner in The Department Store  Takapuna, where she’s got designs and sizes to cater for every budget and need. I warn you though, plan to put aside a good amount of time to wander through the rest of The Department Store while you’re there.

You can check out a recent interview with her at The News here or pop over to her website to read about her range of services.

Beautifully creative and a great addition to the Department Store! Love the large round vase. I used to experiment with these in our old house but they’ve been in storage since we moved! Great inspiration for when I get them out again x

Terrariums are hot, hot, hot at the moment. My cousin makes them and sells them with jewellery at market stalls and aways does well with them. Annie’s terrariums are all wonderful. I’m going to have a go at making one this year as well..thought I’d do one in a giant round fishbowl type vase. Glad the jelly post was so timely, hope the boys enjoy making & eating it! C xx
