Hi everyone, I hope you had a nice weekend! I thought I’d start the week with a little book storage idea.
Our boys have a big bookshelf in their room, which also holds our daughter’s books but I find over time with all best intentions they tend to accumulate in messy piles in her room. This weekend I found a sweet way to hold them, by using an old vintage drawer.
I think vintage looks great in kid’s rooms because that’s generally the place with a lot of modern furniture and accessories; it’s nice to mix it up a bit. Sitting in the drawer with the books is a wooden toy that my great-grandfather made that is just so special to me! Beside it all, a gorgeous little bunny night lamp that I bought from Collected – I think having this modern element really completes the look.
So what do you think? Would you do vintage in your kid’s room? Do you have any storage ideas for the few stray books that don’t make it back to the bookshelf?
Enjoy your day everyone and see you Wednesday!

Really lovely idea and I like a lot the modern-vintage combination! Good early creative education ;-)
Thanks Gudy:)
Lovely, lovely Mel! You can’t beat a selection of old drawers!! xx
Similar to this I’ve seen in a cafe this week end magazines in a vintage suitcase.
It was a French cafe I must admit and they did a great job in mixing modern furniture with some French “brocante” pieces.
@Julia – what a lovely idea! Those French are a clever lot;) x
@Caroline – thank you! x
I would definitely do vintage in my kids room, although mine are teenagers now and won’t let me decide anything!!! or even let me in there!!! It adds so much character to a room. Great use of an old drawer. I have to apologise Mel..for some reason I thought you had all boys. Is your daughter your youngest? Bet she’s got a really cute room. Catherine xx
Hi Catherine – two boys and a girl who is totally spoilt and adored by her big brothers! M x
I don’t have kids, but I would totally have that bunny lamp in my room. It’s lovely!
@ Genie – ha does that have something to do with your name:))) it’s a cutie and my kids really love it.
@ Michelle – indeed perfect for growing minds – I hadn’t thought of that before, now sold more than ever:)
I love vintage touches in kidsrooms. They add interest and a sense of history – perfect for growing minds! Isn’t it nice being able to pass treasured childhood toys on to your own kids… and the drawer is perfect for storing books x
