While doing a little last minute birthday shopping for my husband a couple of weekend’s ago at World Store, I was introduced to a collaboration between world renowned candle maker, Cire Trudon and perfumer, Carlos Huber of Arquiste.

If you haven’t yet heard of Carlos Huber, you soon will, this guy has a rich history: Carlos studied Architecture in his hometown of Mexico City and later in Paris. He then spent some time in Spain, which he credits to awakening his love for aromatic environments of the Mediterranean, and strengthened his love for architectural history. From there he moved to New York, graduating with an honours in Historic Preservation at Columbia University.

Carlos then went on to study fragrance development and collaborated with some of the most internationally-recognised noses, to capture the fragrant notes of historical moments. Arquiste Parfumeur was born.

It’s no wonder then, that this collaboration with Cire Trudon, the oldest and most prestigious wax manufacturer in the world is nothing short than perfect.

Arquiste Parfumeur has chosen to celebrate this esteemed Franco-Mexican collaboration by recreating a balmy night described by Empress Carlota of México on her visit to the city of Mérida, Yucatan in 1865. It sounds utterly intriguing doesn’t it? Wait until you catch the exquisite scent.

New Zealand readers will find Mérida Arquiste created for Cire Trudon exclusively at World Store. Worldwide readers, click here for stockists.
