I first met Audrey after I did a post on her lovely online shop, Hello Paper last year. I really admire her style, how she photographs her products and the way that they represent her simple values in life. It took me months to find out that she actually wrote a blog herself and a very successful one at that called, La Maison Douce. Yes, another thing close to my heart, Audrey is French, and she lives in Hamilton, New Zealand with her Kiwi partner and their new born baby. She’s now in the midst of renovations but she still has a place special to her in the home that she’s sharing with us today. Audrey’s previous Hamilton home was featured in Your Home & Garden magazine in February this year. Thank you so much for sharing a little part of your space with us Audrey and congratulations on the birth of your little baby boy.
Having bought our “untouched since the 70’s bungalow” just over a year ago we are still in the middle of big renovation work. Since we have moved in however there has always been this little corner in the living room I have loved and claimed as my very own.
I am not the sentimental type when it comes to interior design but this space is nothing but filled with emotions! Nothing precious, just memories and one glance at this corner always brings a smile to my face. When I need a break or some time away from work (I work from home!) this is where you will find me. I might be knitting, sitting with a cup of tea, gazing at the afternoon sun or writing to my son in the little notebook I started for him since the beginning of my pregnancy. I also love going through the garden to pick flowers or small branches to create simple arrangements to display around the house.
I suppose I like this little corner so much because it embodies what I thrive for daily: a simple, quiet and uncomplicated life.
Readers, if you’d like to admire more beautiful imagery of Audrey’s world, I recommend you pop over to her blog and follow along and in case you’re wondering, she writes it in both French and English! Don’t forget to visit her store, Hello Paper too for lovely little homewares and paper goods of a similar aesthetic. Mel x

I remember Audrey’s previous home from YH&G well – it was so lovely. Judging by this gorgeous corner, Audrey as already stamped her mark on her new home. I hope we get to see it when it’s finished! x
