Being new to New Zealand, I first read about Claire Donaldson of One Lovely Day over at The Design Chaser. Claire, who was born into an artistic family, tells us that when she arrived in this world; it was literally in a pot of paint. Growing up in these creative surrounds later led her to lending her talents to styling and the opening of her company, One Lovely Day. Take a look through her work and I’m sure you’ll agree that the events that Claire pulls together are nothing short of perfection and while each of them are unique and to her customers brief, there’s still that “One Lovely Day” stamp. She has most recently come up with a fabulous idea of acquiring a retro caravan, “One Lovely Wagon” that will be a mobile bar, available soon and perfect to hire for summer events.
Claire is also a girl after my own heart, a lover of vintage and mixing old with new in her home and I’m so pleased to have her visiting today, to answer my 5 Decorating Questions.

How would you best describe your style?
I love a neutral background palette, it creates such a calm feeling in an otherwise busy life and allows you the freedom to add and subtract accessories in any colour or style … which is good as I’m always adding and subtracting!!

What has been your best decorative find or purchase to date?
Our beautiful round wooden kitchen table, I love the round shape amongst our homes sleek lines and it fits 10 guests with ease, perfect for entertaining.
If you could splurge on one thing for the home, what would it be?
A beautifully landscaped pool area, heaven.

Contemporary or vintage?
Vintage with a twist, I love finding old unusual odds and ends and turning them into pieces for the home. The history behind the find also interests me and makes the discovery all the more precious, it nice having a story or meaning behind items you display.
Home…
is of course with the ones you love, you can style a house from the inside out buts it’s not a home until you add love x
