Ah beautiful, beautiful baskets, all of the different shapes, colours, textures and ethnicity are a perfect way to add interesting touches to a home. The uses are endless, from the practical to purely decorative. Here’s a selection of some that have caught my eye of late:
1.Doug Johnston Basket – ‘100’
I’ve been admiring this collection at Douglas & Bec for some time, the work is so fine and truly magnificent. It really doesn’t need to do anything but just sit somewhere or on your wall to look perfect but I’d probably use it to fill with fruit or make a little coffee table vignette .
I didn’t realise until now that this is a Swedish style of basket. This particular one is made for Fine Little Day and I like the idea of this being made to hang from a wall – quite typical of those super organised Scandinavians! It would be lovely having a wall of them in the entry to house all of those floppy hats and odds and ends you need to grab before walking out the door.
This would look great anywhere and like all baskets there’s a trillion uses but I really like the look of these African baskets in a living room to hold a few toys or craft supplies.
4. Coiled Blue Basket Wired Edge
I just adore this basket handmade out of Denmark. The vibrant blue mixed with an earthy yellow topped with the wire cross-stitch. For this one, I think I’d leave be, just have it to sit there in all its handmade glory.
When I see this photo, I imagine a home in the colder climates with these all lined up and overflowing with scarves, beanies and gloves but of course they’d make gorgeous laundry storage or anything else for that matter. Lovely and clean and screams, “I’m organised” which is a dream of mine one of these days.
Do you have any favourites here? I’d love to hear about any of your uses for baskets.
I hope that you have a great weekend lovely people!

A Doug Johnston basket has been on my wishlist for ages, but it’s nice to see some others. The Burlap ones on Etsy are lovely! x
perfect for organizing. hope you’re having a good week Michelle xx
Lovely baskets! I just found some beautiful ones in Bali I want to buy. I think they are great for all this little stuff we have like cables, chargers and anything ugly ;-) to keep in a beautiful basket. I prefer Number 3, 4 and 5! xx Claudia
These baskets are so nice! Love them all.
The second one would be perfect to store books next to my son’s bed. Very handy to have them ready for bedtime stories.
