This really is such a pleasure for me to bring yet another instalment of my On The wall series and today please welcome Elodie from the gorgeous flower and interior blog, Madame Love as my guest. Each time a fellow blogger or creative shares a little wall place in their home with us, it allows me and I hope you to discover them somewhat more. Elodie’s contribution here certainly does for me. When I see this collection, I’m not surprised as it is very much her beautiful aesthetic, yet I’m fascinated by what it is that she is sharing with us that’s on her wall and the stories behind, that have such meaning to who she is today…
Hello Everyone, I am Elodie from the blog madame love. Yes, Love is my real name! On madame love, I talk about interior design and about flowers.
Thank you so much Mel, for inviting me on your blog today for this beautiful feature! I feel very honoured as I truly love your blog and the way you curate it. I can’t wait to meet you in person one day.
So…back to my wall. I love using the colour grey in decoration. My living room is a very long and narrow room. When we first moved in, we were a bit dispointed with the shape of the room. Even if the flat is situated on the fifth floor, the room doesn’t get that much light due to its shape. Nevertheless, we decided to paint one of the walls in dark grey. I really love the result, it feels so cosy and it still reflects the light in a very warm and elegant way. I especially like the colour of the wall at night with several light sources reflecting on the wall.
The good thing with a narrow room and a long wall is that you have a lot of space for displaying things. I love displaying art, little paintings, photographs or illustrations but what I would like to show you today is my little camera collection.
The camera on the left handside is my Konika, my first analogue camera I bought when I was a teenager with my first 50 mm lens. I fell in love with photography with this camera. During my law studies in Paris, I had my own dark room in my tiny flat and spent nights developing my black and white films. You can also see the lens of my enlarger on the very left of the shelf.
This camera also reminds me of my year spent in Vienna, were I used to take pictures all the time from the city and my many travels in Eastern European countries, and the excitement and sometimes disappointment when I picked up the photos. Such an exciting time of my life!
The one in the middle is a lomography camera, a special Japanese edition of the DIANA F+ Camera. I hardly ever used it, but I love the pattern and I think it looks really great on the wall. The third one is a special one. It belonged to my grandfather. We never met, as he died before my birth, but we shared the same passion for photography. It is a Russian camera and apparently a copy of a Leica. I never used it so far. Shame on me!
I am very happy to have found this way of displaying my little collection.
The collection is displayed on a picture rail from Ikea. Originally, the rail was black, but I decided to paint it the same colour as the wall. This way the little collection stands out on the rail.
The picture on the right-hand side, behind the cameras is one of my favourite photos. I took that picture of a light bulb in Berlin in the courtyard of a great place called Clärchen in Berlin Mitte. I think it’s a very happy picture and I like the colours against the grey background. The picture is under plexiglas. For me, it is the best way to print pictures and reveal their beauty – I have been a big fan for years. I had it printed in Germany, by a studio called White Wall. I can really recommend them, as the result is really stunning and art gallery-like.
Thank you so much for sharing your amazing collection of cameras and their stories Elodie. I found that story about your Grandfather’s camera so touching and that DIANA F+ camera – wow! Perhaps you should have a little online store with some of your prints, if they’re anything like that bulb one, they’re sure to sell well. Now there’s an idea…

What a great display. I once lived in a flat where the living room was long and narrow. I also liked displaying along that wall.
I also used to develop my own black and white photography and also remember well going to pic up developed films and never knowing what came out or not. It’s so much easier with digital,…
Love the grey wall and the cameras are fabulous. I like Lomography but as I really like photography it’s too gimmicky for me. However, have always loved the Diana F+. Yours Elodie is STUNNING!!!

No surprise here with Madame Love colors, it reflects exactly the way she takes pictures and the color scheme she uses on IG which are moody, warm and just very nice. I love to hear the little stories about her collected cameras. Big hug to both ladies!
Hi Mel and Elodie!
What a lovely concept you have here, Mel! I am a big fan of Elodie and Madame Love Blog….the passion for the beautiful expressions of life is really felt here. The grey wall is superb and all those cameras are just amazing. I appreciated reading what Elodie did to create the shelf and why it works for her…I am always intrigued to see the spaces of other creatives! Thank you both for creating some wonderful reading material for my evening. Big hugs! xx
Thanks Jocelyn! Yes I really enjoy this series and its sister “my space”. Isn’t that wall perfect? Lately I’m seeing how dark walls work really well in awkward rooms – I’d never think it. Have a lovely evening Jocelyn xx
