There’s a great new international gift registry concept that landed in my inbox last week that I think is just genius and I thought that you might too.
The Lovely Registry is a pinterest-like platform where the celebrator can create their own personal “wish list” website. Here they can upload a personal photo and message for their guests along with images of their heart’s desires from local and international designer and boutique brands via The Lovely’s website or any website. The buyer then “claims” the gift so that there are no double ups and can either purchase the gift directly from the physical store or via the store’s website with an easy “click through” or the buyer also has the option to shop around other stores for the best price.
This registry is free to register and it was created by two clever New Zealand girls, Georgina Kivell and Sara Melrose and caters internationally; you simply drag the LOVELY button to the bookmark toolbar in your browser and pin from your very own market. The only requirement is that the gift can be ordered online.
It’s a very personal experience. If a couple getting married already has an established house, they could add a tent for future camping adventures beside that designer lamp or artwork. Or perhaps a new baby is on the way and instead of having ten blankets or too many clothes for a three month old; the collection could be more evenly spaced for the months and needs ahead. It’s really flexible and what I like about it is that it can truly reflect individual tastes and lifestyles.
Have you used a gift registry service? I have to say that when we got married, we didn’t, but we also had a very small intimate wedding. If it would have been a larger wedding, I think I would have given the guests a choice. While I do love choosing that “perfect” gift for someone close, I also appreciate the option to give them something that I know will have plenty of good use and enjoyment.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

I love this. I’m a HUGE fan oc these sites.
When I turned 40 (nearly 10 years ago) I had a Birthday list. At that time there weren’t any dedicated websites…. I can only recomend it. It’s really a win-win situation.
I recently attended a wedding of friends who had a site for their chosen gifts. It was a real pleasure to buy them something they really wanted.
ThNks for sharing xx
Totally agree. So Tina, perhaps you should use this for your 50th? x
This is indeed a really nice concept and their website looks really simple and beautiful! I haven’t used gift registry services so far, but before the Christmas we have a mailing list where everyone sends their wish lists.
Now there’s an idea, you could keep a permeant wish list on the site to direct people to! xx M
