Yesterday around my home, the morning after the Kinfolk gathering in Auckland, reminiscing about a lovely way to spend a Saturday evening.
Garlands of eucalypts and simple candlelight, created the perfect setting at Indie Home Collective where friends and strangers came together to share good food and wine and many laughs.
All around the world on the same day, kindred spirits met to celebrate the Kinfolk ideal. Each of the gatherings to their interpretation of the theme, L’Espirit de la Mere.
Our gracious host Greta Kenyon thought of the smallest details, everything done to impeccable taste. Kelly Gibney and Delaney Mes created the most delicious feast that I’m sure they will be sharing the recipes to along with photos from the evenings on their blogs sometime soon.
I didn’t take my camera on the night but I have my memories along with few Instagram shots and some very thoughtful gifts. If you do go to Instagram, search with #kinfolkgatherings2014 to see all of the photos from the Kinfolk community celebrating around the world.
I’m sure like us, everyone at the Auckland gathering and around the world left with full bellies and happy hearts.
Mel xx
Looks like a fab event. There is part of me that likes the idea and another big part that finds it all a bit staged, too perfect and a little pretentious (it’s probably just me:-))
LOVE how you told the story here and really glad you had such a fab time xx
Thanks dear! I understand what you mean but I think in a way it is staged and everything thought of, a bit like an old fashioned party. The atmosphere was lovely and casual. M xx
Sounds like you had a great evening Mel. I love the Kinfolk gatherings and their aesthetic and the concept behind them is wonderful. I missed the London one this time around but I did do their Christmas workshop which I loved. xD
Isn’t it such a lovely movement that they’re creating? Shame you didn’t get to it this time, the London one looked great from the photos. M xx
The Kinfolk gathering looks and sounds beautiful, Would have been wonderful meeting new and like minded creative people over dinner. I would have loved to go to the Melbourne one but didn’t realise it was on until I saw all the pics on instagram. It’s a wonderful concept. xx
Oh the Melbourne one looked amazing too! I love Butterland where they had it, such a gorgeous venue. They also do a nice IG feed. Look forward to NY part 2 Catherine. xx
Sounds and looks in IG lovely evening. Here in Finland we also have Ravintolapäivä that was on Saturday. I was in Raku course so I missed it. But it’s very popular, everyone can built a restaurant for a day. In English it’s Restaurantday…next one is in august. Have a lovely week Mel!
Restaurant Day sounds like such a great experience! I hope that you’ll open a restaurant the next time and document it.. I’m really enjoying going through IG and seeing all of the different settings. Kinfolk must be so proud! M xx
