Today my guest for the My Space series, is the very lovely Jocelyn Cassey. Jocelyn leads a very interesting life and is blessed to live between two cities that really couldn’t be more different from the other; Arizona, USA and Hamburg, Germany. Her blog, The Inner Interior, explores the art of designing and exploring the artful life and while Jocelyn is an Interior Designer by trade and you can go there for some great tips and advice, what I enjoy most of all is that she delves a little deeper. I have no doubt that like me, you’ll to be enriched by reading Jocelyn’s personal experiences and reflections on interior design and life. I’m so happy to have her here today, sharing her favourite space in her Arizona home with us.
Well, it is easy for me to say my bedroom is my sanctuary, the place I go when I need to rest and revive my senses. It is the space I could spend all day in reading, mediating or just simply watching the trees blow in the wind from my teddy bear chair that sits in the corner. When Mel invited me to take part in this My Space series I felt led to share my bedroom and because of it my appreciation for it has deepened and I love it even more.
The size is just right for us, not too big and not too small. Personally, I prefer cozy rooms with lower ceilings and since this is a mid-century home we definitely benefit from that 70’s vibe a little with the wood slat ceiling. The window lets in the most beautiful light in the morning; it is almost creamy and ideal for a fig plant to grow healthy and strong.
As you can see, I am a big fan of oversized side tables! The two you see are different, to represent the differences between my partner and I. There is only one “rule” in our room in terms of decoration and that is there must always be flowers of some sort so this month it is the orchid, which I adore so much.
When I enter our room I can breathe deeply and know I am in a space where I can rest my mind and body. I think the neutral colors and soothing white walls help with this but that is really just my preference. What I love most about Mel’s series here is we get to not only learn about what styles another person prefers but the deeper sense of what they feel within the space.
Mel, thank you for having me on your beautifully created online space. It has been a pleasure being a part of My Space.

Thank you so much Jocelyn. I’m really glad that you chose to share your bedroom, I remember seeing it in your video and thinking what an absolute oasis it is, and that bedlinen – wow!

such a gorgeous light filled bedroom – very nice!
It’s a beautiful space and the best part is that you fell back in love with it.
I also went through a period of falling out of love with parts of my home a couple of years ago. Thankfully that’s over:-)
Thank you ladies. Always such a pleasure to read this series.
Have a nice weekend. xx
Oh lucky that’s over indeed! I’d love to see more of your home too Tina. You should give us a little tour non? M xx
Thanks, Tina! I wouldn’t necessarily say I fell out of love with my room, I just fell back in love with it fully :) I agree with Mel, I would love to see more of your home! have a lovely week lovely Tina! xx
I don’t Mel, but I am going to pop over and have a look now xx
Oh good – enjoy xx
I love the light in your bedroom Jocelyn! Amazing to wake up here after a little siesta. I’m sure CW&P love hanging out here too. Your fig tree looks happy here as well <3 Thanks for sharing this with us, Jocelyn & Mel!
Hi Judith. Can’t you imagine it and it would no doubt be so lovely and cool in the Arizona summer. M xx
Judith, can you see little Popcorn in the corner (in his favorite chair) on the horizontal photo? He just had to be on Mel’s blog! My fig tree loves it there and now I will think of you every time I see it :) Thank you for your thoughtful comment. Jocelyn xx
Ha ha, do you know I wondered if it was and forgot to ask! Gorgeous xx
What a beautiful bedroom, a very grown up space, I’m quite jealous! Xx
I know, just gorgeous! Do you know Joceyln’s blog Emma? It’s just lovely. xx
Hi Emma, you are so right! It is quite grown up ;) I feel it is quite mature for someone my age but I really love the more subtle approach to living. I suppose I have always been a little ahead of my time in terms of style. If you ever make it to Arizona you are welcome to stop by for some tea! Thank you for kindly commenting, it is lovely to meet you! Jocelyn xx
Hi Mel, it is such a pleasure to be a part of your My Space series. It was fun to challenge myself to capturing the images for this as the room is awkwardly shaped which isn’t apparent in the photos :) I sort of fell back in love with this space all over again so thank you! Have a wonderful day! xx
Oh you did such a fabulous job and I’m so glad that I helped you fall back in love with it – it’s such a beautiful space. Thank-you xx
Lovely to see Jocelyn’s space on your blog mel! Have a great day lovely ladies.
