Doris purchased her London apartment a few years ago and threw herself into making it into a family home. It was during that time that a shift happened in her life and she realised how much she enjoyed the process, so she enrolled herself in an Interior Design course. Her blog, Diary of an Interior Novice is a document of all of her learning along with personal projects and interesting interviews with professionals who have also had career changes. It’s such a pleasure to welcome Doris today as she shares with us, what’s on her wall.
Thank You so much Mel for inviting me to participate in your lovely blog series “On the Wall”. I’m so thrilled and honoured to be here. I decided to take a couple of photo’s of my office wall. The wall started out as a place for me to store some sample tiles that were piling up in the corner of the table. I was desperate to just get them out of the way, so we happened to have some wood strips that we had left over from another project and I came up with the idea of attaching the strips to the wall so that I could display them.
Over time, the wall has become a living mood board. I use it to display anything and everything that I’m inspired by at the time, from projects that I’m currently working on (concepts & sample boards) to things I’ve collected over the years (the framed tree sketch was picked up at a flea market in Stockholm during the Meet the Blogger Conference last year). And my motto at the moment is to “finish what you start” as a reminder to myself that I will one day finish my Open Learning Diploma that I’m working through and to keep going.
Thank you again Mel for having me. I’ve had lots of fun being here! xD
Thanks Doris. I really enjoyed discovering your mood board, it’s such a perfect reflection of a stylish girl and I’m sure many of us can relate to that last quote!

Oh I love this so much! For one, I adore both of you ladies but you probably already know that. I enjoy Doris’ blog very much and happy to see her here, Mel! This is such a fun series and I enjoyed “being a fly on the wall” and getting to know Doris a little more. Have a good weekend to both of you! Jocelyn xx
Thanks Jocelyn, you too! I love this series too, seeing a little of people’s homes reveals a lot and here we can see that Doris has loads of style. M xx
