Alvar Aalto Tea Trolley
It all started with this image. Everything about it spoke to me, the artwork, the Panton Chair, the herringbone floor, and then of course the trolley. This impeccable piece of design, the Tea Trolley is by Finland’s world-renowned father of bent wood furniture, designer and architect the late Alvar Aalto.
Instamoments #8 | The Vignette
Instagram is such a great expression for personal style. It also forces me to move things around a little and try new things out a little more than before. This is actually a good thing because it freshens things up in the house as I use it as my little playground for styling. I also find myself buying a lot more flowers these days with Instagram in mind.
A Quote for a Friday
“What if I fall? Oh but my darling, what if you fly?”
I’ve seen this quote going around Pinterest lately and it fits my mood perfectly. It comes from a poem by a talented young Australian girl, Erin Hanson. It reminds me about this fear of failing that so many of us feel from time to time and the thought of it can cripple us from doing what we truly want.
Colours of Pinterest
I remember reading a post by Holly at Decor8 some time ago about how her Pinterest pins always seem to be naturally themed in colour as she goes. Recently I’ve been spending more time pinning as part of my 2015 goal to improve my social media skills. So I’m now doing it daily, sometimes a couple of times in the day. Well, lets just say that I finally got the Pinterest bug and I feel that I can truly capture my aesthetic.
Citta Design’s Winter Collection
Tuesday morning saw the media launch of Citta Design’s 2015 Winter Collection, Deco Deco, inspired by the city of Paris. It took me a moment to take in the jaw-dropping venue of Silo 6, which set the scene for the stunning new collection.
Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas
Lets talk about love. Yes it’s that time of year where things get a little cliché and quite frankly you either love it or you hate it. I’m personally not a huge fan of Valentine’s Day, but I do see its merits. I figure, unless you’re in the first eighteen months of a relationship when you’re all starry eyed, sometimes you need a little nudge to dedicate a time to say, you’re kind of cool and I appreciate you. My parents gave me that idea. Years ago when we spoke about how they go away for a couple of days each year to celebrate their wedding anniversary, I kind of snuffed that idea. Why don’t they just do that kind of thing throughout the year spontaneously? They pulled me up on it. My step mother told me that if you don’t dedicate a day to celebrate your coming together as a couple, then every day is just going to merge into another, especially as the years go on and you’re not so “starry eyed”.
My Edible Container Garden
I’m no green thumb. I’ve neglected many plants in my time, even the succulent variety that I chose for their hardiness. I am getting better though. I realise now that they actually need watering (sometimes daily), sun, fertiliser and some attention to keep them mostly happy. With this newfound knowledge, I’ve created an edible container garden, just outside my back door on the deck and, it makes me so happy!
