quiet in the storm 3

It’s been a hectic couple of weeks for me. School holidays arrived what seemed like only a few weeks after the school year begun. Normally I prepare a little in advance for these moments, but with the relaunch of the blog, that all got swept under the carpet.

Even during crazy moments, it’s so important to stop and have some time out don’t you think? I find if I don’t do that, it’s really hard to keep up and it backfires because I’m so worn out and don’t work efficiently. My favourite time out moments are usually a simple walk to the café alone. To unwind I feel that I need to get out of the house, otherwise I’m reminded of everything that needs to get done and I usually start doing it. I’m sure a lot of you can relate to that! Even better is a holiday and I just got back from a beautiful four-night stay on Waiheke Island. This was a perfect mini-holiday for us and an excuse to spend quality time with the family and perhaps steal a couple of moments to read some of that book I left off in the Christmas holidays! It’s incredible how this change of scenery has made me feel so refreshed and ready to hit the ground running. Anyway, in the coming weeks, I’ll share a little of our travel story with you here on the blog.

Today I’m putting together the final touches for what will be six weeks of giveaways for you to celebrate the relaunch of this blog. There are some really great prizes up for grabs for your “styled” home. It kicks off this Monday, so make sure you pop back then and each Monday to see how to enter.

Have a great weekend everyone.

That mini-break sounds wonderful! Good point about going out *every* day, especially when working from home. My short walks by the canal or in the park during lunch have really made a difference.

I can definitely relate, working from home I am constantly seeing all the things that need to be done, locking myself in my office usually works to help me forget! My time out is dropping orders to the post office and picking up a chai latte on the way, just that short drive can make all the difference to my mindset, that and hanging out the washing in the sunshine. Getting some vitamin D and doing the house work, win win x

Nothing beats vitamin D Sarah! I’m with you in that I actually enjoy hanging the clothes on the line when the sun is shinning and not to mention the smell of them when you take them off:) Have a great weekend xx

Before my (now 11 week) old baby was born a friend gave some wonderful advice – that I should make sure that I try to get out of the house every day, even if it is just to stand in the back yard and look at the sky for a few moments. How important that advice became to me in those early, very tiring and tough, weeks. What a blessing blue sky and fresh air is!

It’s funny how insignificant those pieces of advice seem until we actually experience the moments they were related to! Wise advice from your friend indeed. That and joining a coffee group was my saviour in the early days. Enjoy your sweet 11 week old Rhonda x
