PK91Carrying on with my furniture by decade series, I’m looking at my favourites from the 1960’s. There was actually quite a lot from this decade that I would have liked to have added, think the Mushroom chair, The EJ 605 Corona and the CH07 to name a few. However, if I must choose, here they are…

I couldn’t cover this era without including the Componibili tondi by Anna Castelli Ferrieri for Kartell. This is an absolute classic and probably the most accessible of all of the designs, not the mention that it’s extremely practical. I’ve owned this piece for about ten years now and it has pretty much moved around the house for different uses. I first bought it for bathroom storage, it then moved to my bedside table, in the kid’s room and now it is our entry table.

The CH445 Wingchair by Hans J Wegner and Carl Hansen is an armchair that most would dream about. Not only would this be an elegant statement to a room, it was made to be comfortable even if you tuck your legs under or drap them over the armrest. Sounds like my kind of chair.

The Orange Slice Chair by Pierre Paulin for Artifort is a playful design and is renown for looking like it has a different shape from different angles. To me the chair is not complete without the ottoman, making it the perfect reading chair.

I’d love to have an elegant folding stool like the PK91 by Poul Kjaerholm for Fritz Hansen. Perfect as an occasional chair in the living or in the dressing room (dreaming here). What makes this one particularly stunning is the propeller legs in stainless steel.

Out of the five here, my all time favourite would have to be the Butterfly by Pierre Paulin for Artifort. I love its elegant steel frame with leather seat. I covet it in tan which highlights the stitching perfectly.

Do you have any favourites here from the 1960’s decade? Would you have picked any others?

Before I head off, I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who voted for me in the Amara Interior Awards. I’m so happy to say that I made it through to the shortlist of top five in the category of Best International Interior Blog (insert happy dance here). I got there because of your votes and I’m incredibly appreciative of this. Fingers crossed for the announcement at the awards ceremony 28 October in London. Pop over to see and discover some talented blogs who made the shortlist in various categories. Wishing everyone the very best in the finals.

Have a great start to the new week everyone!
