You might have noticed that I love to rearrange things in my home. Because I rent, moving around artwork is always a little tricky, so I was so happy to discover Happy Moose Wall Dots recently and try them out in my new place. The idea behind the dots is to have your own images printed on removable wall decals. I have to say that I was really excited by the possibilities. We are terrible at printing photos of our kids and the family, so my initial thought was to put some fun photos up, but in the end I thought I’d go for some decorative photo art that really fits in with my interior style.
There were three areas in my home that I wanted to use the Wall Dots for; my son’s room, the entry and my workspace. The entry really needed a statement so I went for a very large size and something a little smaller for the other two.
Instead of using my own photos, I contacted Georgie from Print By George to tell her about my project and see if I could use her images for it. She really liked the idea and actually ended up ordering some for herself to see how it turned out. In fact, she was so impressed with the results that she will soon be selling some in her store in the coming weeks.
I chose the Bondi Icebergs image for the large which I’m pleased about because it’s actually one that I’ve wanted to have on my wall for quite a while. For Paolo’s room, I thought it would be cool to have a bicycle pic, and for my workspace I went for some lush foliage. I’m working on a little restyle of my desk at the moment and I look forward to sharing those images at a later date.
What struck me when I pulled them out of the packaging after receiving them was the texture. They are made so that any spills or sticky finger marks can wipe off so it has this quality matte, almost vinyl feel to it.
I started on Paolo’s room, which really needed some attention since moving in as his room is along a main hall in our home and guests are always peeking in. I used the opportunity to pull everything out of his bookshelf and start from scratch. I love the end result and he’s super pleased with it too. This size would also look great mixed up in a collage with regular prints, playing off different textures and shapes.
When I was putting the large decal dot up, I admit that I wasn’t really concentrating and stupidly held it from the middle, which I wouldn’t recommend for the larger size. The top flipped in and stuck to the sticky bit! I had such a panic and thought that I would have to order again, but it wasn’t needed. I calmly pulled it apart bit by bit and in no time at all it was like new. The large dot looks perfect in the entry and was just the effect I was after. So that I could to see how removable and reusable they actually are, I relocated the large one onto the big wall in my son’s room, this time holding it from the sides at the top. It peeled off beautifully leaving no mark and stuck to the new wall easily and with no air bubbles.
I’ve had quite a friends visiting since putting them up and pretty much every one of them noticed and mentioned how great they look. I think a fun photo wall in square format will be my next project.
What would you print? Holiday snaps, art photography like I used, or perhaps family photos?

Such a great idea. I love the bike print as much as the one in your hall. They both look fab and I could very well imagine adding a few in my home.
