I always admire people that take the big leap and the step out into the world to pursue their creative endeavours. Amber Armitage is one of them. I’ve met Amber a few times in the industry and beside the fact she’s such an amazing person, I’ve enjoyed watching her put together a very cool collection of her work.
Amber worked for many years as a designer and stylist for Homestyle magazine, hence these beautifully styled images she’s given me! For her, it was being fully immersed in the world of beautiful interiors and homewares that gave her enough confidence and knowledge to branch out on her own mid this year.
Her collection includes a series of photographic art prints taken on a road trip and a ceramic range, “Family Ceramics”, in lovely soft pastels. She has also completed a new set of work entitled Horizon Lines and it’s simply gorgeous. Amber hasn’t photographed the latter yet, so I can’t show them here, but you can check it out on her Instagram feed to see what I mean. They’re all pretty amazing but I have to say that I’m seriously coveting that Deep Blue print!
All of her work can be purchased on her site and ships internationally. If you’re local, she’s got a few exciting things happening so read on.
First up is that she is part of the Alex & Corban Pop-Up shop at 40 Hurstmere Road Takapuna. Amber will be there in store selling her paintings, prints and ceramics until Christmas. Oh and it’s situated in the very cool Fortieth & Hurstmere laneway, a place I’ve been meaning to visit, so this is just the excuse!
The other exciting news is that she will be running a series of styling workshops starting from Monday. This is perfect for those that would love learn how to best edit and style their own spaces at home. Do it alone or with a friend, but it will certainly be a fun evening. Amber tells me that there will be lots of treats on the night and a goodie bag to take home to help inspire you! Go to her website to find a date and location to suit you.
