I had a lot of fun this weekend styling a scene for a Farrow & Ball challenge to celebrate the launch of their new 2015 wallpaper collection, inspired by the British Country. The theme for the challenge was to create a vignette to represent this.
I decided to create a representation of a city couple, who moves into a beautiful home in the countryside and while they’ll no doubt renovate, they’ll keep some of the lovely features left by previous owners, like the wallpaper.
I looked through their beautiful new collection and in the end, I chose the Feather Grass in the dark. The paper is printed with Farrow & Ball paint and the black has such a gorgeous matt chalky look and feel.
This was the first time that I’ve worked with a dark backdrop and wallpaper and I have to say that I loved every moment of it! I kept the scene very simple, using only our Wassily chair, Nesso lamp and couple of books as props. I thought this wallpaper is so stunning that it didn’t need much else.
The biggest challenge for me is that as a renter, I couldn’t put the paper up. Believe me, if it were my own home, it would be up in a flash as a stunning feature wall. To create the look I was after, I hired some photography stands, pole and clips to create the backdrop. Thankfully Guillaume was around to give me a helping hand!
Like I mentioned, this is a challenge and Charlotte Cosby, Head of Creative at Farrow & Ball, will be reviewing all the vignettes posted to the Pinterest board and selecting her favourite. The chosen blogger will win an exclusive trip to the Farrow & Ball factory in Dorset to see in person the wallpapers being made and visit the locations, which inspired the collection! What an amazing prize! So wish me luck, and who knows, perhaps I will be able to give you some behind the scenes of Farrow & Ball and the English countryside soon!
