A mantel or shelf always calls for at least one large object and I wonder if anyone wouldn’t love for it to be something from Sydney ceramics artist, Alexandra Standen. I admit that I have only just recently discovered her work, but it’s without saying that I’m completely smitten and her ceramics are on my radar to add to my collection.

The stunning sculptural collection showcased here entitled, “The Blue Line” has been hand built into bold organic shapes for both form and function. Each object has been finished with delicately painted details in indigo.

My true discovery of her and what made me take notice was as I watched the process of her create her newest collection “Uneasy”. This wasn’t in person though; in today’s world something like this happens via Instagram of course. This was such a great platform as it allowed me to get a true feeling and even greater appreciation for her work. It’s truly is a journey to see the stages of her ceramic sculptural objects coming together from the organic form to the finely painted and intricate designs.

If you love what you see here, make sure you follow her account to peek into her latest collection, “Uneasy”. If you’re in the area, it will be exhibited from February 13 at the Gallery Ecosse in the beautiful NSW southern highlands.
