Today Flotsam and Jetsam open the roller doors to their new warehouse in Grey Lynn. I’m pretty excited by this, as it’s something I’ve heard them talk about for a while now and like many Aucklanders, I’ve been waiting in anticipation.

I figured that a lot of you would be interested to have a little peek at this cool new space yourselves, so I paid Cameron and Gavin a visit last week to have a little look around before the mad rush begins this weekend.

It’s really great news for interior lovers who are after one-of-a-kind pieces that are true to the Flotsam & Jetsam style. The warehouse is full to the brim of stock, and houses mostly their larger items that they just can’t fit into their Ponsonby store. You’ll find anything from cabinets to huge planters, industrial lamps, vintage school chairs, and even carousel horses – yes, it’s a treasure trove of possibilities for your home or workspace.

I’m really hoping that my next home will be a lot bigger, because I’m coveting some really cool wooden display cabinets that they have, and I also know that I’d make my husband really happy if I surprised him with one of the vintage lockers, that is if somebody doesn’t beat me to it first.

Even if you just can’t squeeze another big piece of furniture into the home like me, it’s worth going to take a look as there are still quite a few fun decorative and practical items to purchase for the home and garden. The vintage library letters are a perfect example; you could display them as a unique take on the AJ letters that we’re seeing everywhere at the moment. Keep an eye out for them in my home soon; I got the first letter for each of my family’s first names for fun, I can’t wait to show you.

If you want to build an interior with personality, then you’re sure to find some really interesting pieces there. As usual, the styling by Gavin is a work of art, which is always a bonus to the eye and it also gives you some really great ideas for how to pull things together in your own home.

Here’s Cameron in front of the the original store in Ponsonby which is still running seven days a week. If you missed the post a couple of years ago, you can get a shop tour and read the story behind Flotsam & Jetsam here. They also have some stock available to purchase online or contact them with any inquiries.

Have a great weekend everyone.
