My Home | Two Entrances

I thought I’d dedicate this “My Home” post to our two entrances. Yes we have two. The main one is through the garden, and the other is more like a side entrance that gets used from time to time.

This one shown here, I don’t think I’ve shared before. It’s the more casual side entrance. It’s a little grungy and kid friendly. Behind the door (where you can’t see) is the kitchen fridge and the side part is bursting with papers behind magnets, while the front of the fridge is more clean. We all need these areas in the house, where we just let go don’t we? My husband might tell me it’s where the messy side to my personality is expressed.

Beside the side door are the original wall cupboards that have been painted with chalk paint. Sometime it gets attacked with our children’s drawings, other times we put up the French spelling words for the week (our children go to a bilingual school)… I always like to display my cook books so we removed one of the doors and they fit perfectly in. We’ll put the doors back when we move out.

This bookshelf most probably looks familiar to a lot of you that read this blog or follow me on Instagram. It’s what you’d see when you arrive in the proper entrance.  Bookshelves, or more likely books would have to be one of my favourite decorative features in a home and I dream of having a custom made one built into the wall one day. I love mixing books and objects together, it’s probably the easiest way to make a big impact.

Swing right around towards the door and you’ve got this little area. I kept it simple with our Kartell Componibili to dump the keys on and store sunglasses inside (my husband is a bit of a collector!). This classic has been so versatile over the years and has so far been used as bathroom storage, a bedside table and now our entrance table. Above sits my favourite contemporary aboriginal artwork, by the late Minnie Pwerle. Beside, my “go-to” Saben handbag that Guillaume gave me for Christmas.
