Our Swedish Christmas in NZ House & Garden Magazine

The other day I was sitting in a café with a friend, Christmas music played quietly in the background and then almost as if on cue, it started to lightly snow outside. It’s little moments like those, that  I stop and take a breath and feel so grateful for all of my experiences and the people I meet along the way. I’m trying to do more of that lately, especially when things can feel a little out of control at this time of year. We put so much pressure on ourselves don’t we!

So how are you surviving the Christmas countdown? Have you ticked most things off the list? Or are you like me and tend to leave everything to the last minute? Even though that’s how I generally roll at Christmas, this year I have a really good excuse for not being too organised, which I’ll fill you in on in a moment. But first up, I’d like to share with you a few photos from a feature of our Family’s Swedish Christmas in the December New Zealand House & Garden magazine, Christmas issue!

It was such a pleasure to share a glimpse of our new life here, along with the many wonderful Swedish traditions we’ve discovered the past couple of years. I have to say that I was a little worried about how we would do it because the day of the photo shoot fell on winter solstice, and with only a few hours of daylight (if we were lucky). As it turned out, we were in luck and there was a glimpse of light outside, so combining that and the skills of photographer, Malte Danielsson, we pulled it off.

Here are just a few of the photos from the article, there are more interior shots, along with us out and about in snowy Stockholm in the magazine. The day we took those outdoor photos it was a very fresh -10% but the sun was shining and the air so lovely and crisp.  If you do get a chance to get the magazine, available in NZ and Australia, I’d love to know what you think!

This NZ House and Garden feature takes on a whole new meaning to us now and something that we will treasure, because this Christmas, will be our last in Stockholm. Come early January, we are on the move again, this time it’s London! Even though we are super excited by the next move, we are feeling rather nostalgic already and we will miss this place and our new found friends dearly.

I will be sharing more about our final days in Stockholm, along with our arrival in London over on Instagram. So make sure you follow along if you don’t already.

So dear readers, if you celebrate this time of year, I wish you and your families a wonderful Christmas!

Sending you hugs and love from Stockholm.

Mel xx

This is great news, Mel. Another move around the corner, what a lucky family you are to explore so much of the world.
I feel you when you say that you are a sad to leave but those memories will always be in your hearts, even more that you have this awesome feature in the h&g magazine.
Wishing you a peaceful and happy Christmas and all the best for the move and the new adventures ahead.
    Hugs from Düsseldorf,
    Steph
