I love a good app. When I first got my iPhone, like most people I was so excited by the new world of apps that I overloaded my phone with them. Fast forward a few years and I’m pretty selective, and only have ones that I truly use. Today I’m sharing with you my newest app crush that was created by a couple of my very clever friends, Emma & Ritu.

My Recipe Jar is brand-new and a place for you to store your favourite recipes and share them with your very own network of friends; it’s a social network for recipes that you can access from your iPhone, iPad or computer! I’ve used a number of recipe apps before but this one just steals the thunder.

Last weekend  I was flipping through a magazine in a café and saw a recipe that I wanted to have, I got my iPhone out, took a couple of photos and uploaded them to the app for me to enjoy forever more. That talks to me.

This is what I love about it:

  • It’s totally private and you share only with those you choose
  • You can add a photo of the dish, or have some fun and upload one of you and your friends enjoying it
  • If you own an iPad, you can pop it on a stand and flip through your recipes as if it were a real cookbook
  • You can choose whether you share a particular recipe with your network or keep it just for you
  • You can take a look at your friend’s recipe jars and add any of their recipes that sound enticing to your jar
  • You can type it up but you also have the option of taking a photo of the recipe in a flash
  • It’s quick and easy to convert to a shopping list – great if you’re at the supermarket and can’t think of what to cook!
  • It’s a fun way for food bloggers and chefs to share their favourite recipes

I will have an open network and will be happy to share my recipes with my readers, so if you want to take a peek into my recipe jar, search my name, Mel Chesneau and we can be connected! As I write this, I’ve uploaded five recipes that I love and you’ll see from some splatters of food, they have been well tested.

You can download the app here.

Have a lovely weekend everyone and see you Monday!
