Last night I had the absolute pleasure of spending an evening as a guest of Simon James Concept Store and The Department Store to listen to iconic British designer, Tom Dixon, in conversation with Home New Zealand editor, Jeremy Hansen.
When we rented our villa in Auckland, one of the things that I fell in love with immediately in the house was the open shelving in the kitchen. I’ve always been a fan of open shelves, I think it gives a kitchen, a room that can quite often look sterile, a bit of life.
Don’t we all dream about luxury and pampering in our lives? Some time to stop, rejuvenate and nourish our bodies and minds. With three young children I’m craving for this, especially when time for myself is pretty much non-existent at the moment and the thought of curling up and reading a good novel sounds like – heaven! Our boys have a big bookshelf in their room, which also holds our daughter’s books but I find over time with all best intentions they tend to accumulate in messy piles in her room. This weekend I found a sweet way to hold them, by using an old vintage drawer.
