Vanilla Sugar Cookies
One of the things I love about Christmas are the handmade little goodies that you receive and give, it makes the thought all the more special. I have a great time baking with my children and these little vanilla sugar cookies are always fun to do. At this time of year we give them to neighbours and as tokens for my boys to take on play dates. They’re super easy and always well received.
Milano’s Flavour – Trattoria Bagutta
Today I’m sharing a very special restaurant in Milan, Italy. My husband was in there a couple of months ago and it was just by chance that he ended up in the Trattoria Bagutta, which without his knowing, is a bit of an institution in Milan. Guillaume was absolutely captivated by the place and took a number of photos with his phone to show me.
Slow Cooked Shredded Lamb Burgers
Hi readers, it’s Catherine popping over from Farmhouse Home.
Lamb is really cheap at the moment in Australia with a shoulder of lamb costing me only $15 at the supermarket. With this in mind I thought there was no better time to reinvent the mini beef burger by replacing the beef with some slow cooked shredded lamb for your Spring entertaining.
Matakana Farmers Market
I’m feeling all refreshed after a four-day getaway with my sister and her family. We stayed in the hills of Leigh, overlooking rolling pastures and the Goat Island marine reserve. The area is absolutely breathtaking and while I was so tempted to put my feet up and soak up the views from the weekender we rented, or “Bach”, as it’s called here in New Zealand, there were too many things to do and see around the area.
Cheese, the “how to” guide (for us non French folk)
Have you ever wondered how to serve a cheese platter? I mean, the way the French do? Okay, so my readers in France are probably rolling their eyes right now, but for a lot of us, it’s not so obvious – hey, we’re even known to serve cheese before a meal – gasp!

LEMON & ROSEMARY CAKE
One of my oldest and dearest friends, Leanne, always gives the best gifts; you know ones that always get it right? One of the (many) gifts that she’s given me over the years is this wonderful cookbook called, “Crazy Water Pickled Lemons” by Diana Henry.
Oratia Farmers Market
We’re enjoying my father visiting us from Australia at the moment, so we took the opportunity to do a bit of sight seeing on the weekend and rented a house in the beautiful Waitakere Ranges, just 30 minutes west of central Auckland.
