Hold on tight
Tomorrow is my eldest child, Paolo’s birthday. He turns eight and I simply can’t believe where these years have gone. During the first four years of his life, came his sweet brother and sister, two more blessings. This photo was taken the day my youngest, Lou was born. It was the moment that the two big brothers met their sister for the first time. The moment that I realised that we were a complete family of five and my life changed forever and for the better.
Diary of a Little Bird Organics winter cleanse
I’m not a winter person. I just feel… blah! I need the sunshine and light clothing on my skin. I also go from a bright healthy completion to dull. It’s not necessarily from a suntan, but probably from eating light fresh foods, drinking more water, getting out and about more and just feeling overall more vibrant. I really felt like I needed to give my body a kickstart and my friend Zoe recommended the Little Bird Organics winter cleanse to me. Guillaume was going away for five days last week so I thought I’d give it a go then, so that he didn’t have to put up with my crabbiness. I ordered the three-day pack. I thought I’d share my experience with you.

The Guilt Of Moving
“Mummy how long are we going to stay here?” That’s what my youngest, who just turned four asked me the other day when she was helping me prepare dinner. I asked her what she meant by that and I figured out that she thought we were staying in a holiday home.
New Beginnings
I’m sitting on my bed writing this to the sounds of cartons being taped. Thankfully it’s not me doing it. We are expats and because we have to move, a company will pack and move for us. Being what feels like a professional mover, this makes the experience a little bit easier as anyone who has moved house will know.
Heritage & Moving On (in an interior world) | Visual Strands
I was asked by Visual Strands, an online lifestyle Zine, to contribute to the July theme “Heritage”. The theme was completely open to interpretation so I wrote about my natural instinct towards decorating and design.

Sip NZ Wine Interview
Recently I was interviewed by a great new lifestyle blog called, Sip NZ Wine. The site is about what NZ does really well – wine, and is run by some women that know a thing or two about it. Caro, the creator who has six years in the industry, had the great idea to create a wine site so that you can meet the makers who passionately craft the wine for us to enjoy and related stories.
Glamorising Cigarettes
This is probably one of my favourite photos of me. It takes me back to my days in France, I’d spend my free time in cafes smoking cigarettes, reading books or catching up with friends, smoking cigarettes, solving the problems of the world and smoking cigarettes. I had a great time. But what exactly is it that I like about this photo so much? Is it the memories attached? I actually never gave it much thought before. Now that I ask myself the question, I think that it’s a little bit rebellious, but mostly I think that having that cigarette in my hand, in a black and white photo looks kind of glamorous and that’s what worries me.
Sustainable Home Q & A with Lisa Day
Some of you may recall an article I did for the April/May Homestyle magazine on the sustainable build of Auckland architects, Lisa and Scott of Donnell & Day Architecure . It created a lot of interest here and on social media and it seems that quite a few of you are wanting to know more about what you could do to your home, to live more sustainably. When I spoke to Lisa about her home in preparation for the article, I was fascinated by her unwavering passion on the subject of sustainable builds and renovations. One thing that she kept on stressing to me, was that a beautiful architecturally designed home, that is also sustainable, needn’t cost the earth. Lisa also has this natural gift to explain it in everyday language. Obviously this is a huge subject and it can be looked at from many angles, so today I thought I’d focus on the structure of the home and what changes and/or additions you could do to live more sustainably. Lisa of Donnell & Day Architecture kindly answered some questions.
