Favourite posts of 2015
It has been a huge year for me blog wise, so I thought it would be fun to do a little round up of my most favourite posts since rebranding to Styled Canvas at the end of March. Perhaps you might have missed some of them too, so in the order of them being published, here it goes:
3 Women who Influenced me this Year
Now that we’re into our last month of the year, I’m looking back at what shaped me. For me a good part of it has been reading and listening to inspiring women. Here are my top three women who influenced me this year:
Paris je t’aime
How could I write anything else today, other than how my heart is so full of sadness?
Saturday morning began in New Zealand. We were so happy and full of joy as we celebrated my son’s 6th birthday. He woke up to a room of balloons, opened his presents and then we had our traditional birthday breakfast.
Hold on tight
Tomorrow is my eldest child, Paolo’s birthday. He turns eight and I simply can’t believe where these years have gone. During the first four years of his life, came his sweet brother and sister, two more blessings. This photo was taken the day my youngest, Lou was born. It was the moment that the two big brothers met their sister for the first time. The moment that I realised that we were a complete family of five and my life changed forever and for the better.
The Guilt Of Moving
“Mummy how long are we going to stay here?” That’s what my youngest, who just turned four asked me the other day when she was helping me prepare dinner. I asked her what she meant by that and I figured out that she thought we were staying in a holiday home.
New Beginnings
I’m sitting on my bed writing this to the sounds of cartons being taped. Thankfully it’s not me doing it. We are expats and because we have to move, a company will pack and move for us. Being what feels like a professional mover, this makes the experience a little bit easier as anyone who has moved house will know.
Glamorising Cigarettes
This is probably one of my favourite photos of me. It takes me back to my days in France, I’d spend my free time in cafes smoking cigarettes, reading books or catching up with friends, smoking cigarettes, solving the problems of the world and smoking cigarettes. I had a great time. But what exactly is it that I like about this photo so much? Is it the memories attached? I actually never gave it much thought before. Now that I ask myself the question, I think that it’s a little bit rebellious, but mostly I think that having that cigarette in my hand, in a black and white photo looks kind of glamorous and that’s what worries me.
On The Move (Again)
So we have to move again. Yep, that’s right and it’s an inconvenience to say the least. We’ve been in this house two years now and while we feel a little cramped, I always knew we were on a good thing. It’s in a great location, it’s renovated, warm, and it has the most incredible view that goes out to the Waitakere Ranges.
