Formex AW17 | Bliss, The Collection
When you name your collection Bliss, you’re setting rather high standards for a product in terms of that ultimate feeling. But when you couple the dreamy designs of Emma Von Brömssen, with the fluid and tactile ceramics of Kajsa Cramer, the description couldn’t be more fitting.
The Ceramicist | Gidon Bing
Since the earliest days of this blog, I’ve wanted to photograph and write a story about ceramicist and sculptor, Gidon Bing. My very first introduction to his work was seeing his water pitcher, which, along with most of his other creations, I have coveted ever since. This jug has a very particular style; beautifully rounded and smooth, almost like a very modern take of something that might have been used during the Roman Empire. Quite often his work is oversized and dramatic, yet without any fuss and easily recognisable as his.
Styled Canvas Favourites | Iittala X Issey Miyake
It’s always refreshing to see something that comes along that is completely different to what’s out there in the marketplace. The recently released Iittala x Issey Miyake collection has certainly done just this by collaborating to create functional and decorative pieces for the tabletop. The result is individual with a wow factor.

Alexandra Standen Ceramics
A mantel or shelf always calls for at least one large object and I wonder if anyone wouldn’t love for it to be something from Sydney ceramics artist, Alexandra Standen. I admit that I have only just recently discovered her work, but it’s without saying that I’m completely smitten and her ceramics are on my radar to add to my collection.
Amber Armitage Collection
I always admire people that take the big leap and the step out into the world to pursue their creative endeavours. Amber Armitage is one of them. I’ve met Amber a few times in the industry and beside the fact she’s such an amazing person, I’ve enjoyed watching her put together a very cool collection of her work.
Garden Objects Online Store
The other week I had the pleasure of visiting the home and workspace of Lisa and Jared, of the gorgeous and recently opened online store, Garden Objects.
Like all good visits, it started with a friendly cuppa and a good old chat. The two had just recently arrived in Auckland. Jared, a Kiwi has been living in London for the past twelve years. After he and Lisa visited a couple of years ago, they flirted with the idea of moving to Jared’s homeland to settle. It became a reality when they had the brilliant idea of opening a concept store dedicated to all things garden. They packed up most of their belongings, including their (adorable) British cat Bertie, and started a new life here.
Katia Carletti Ceramics
Handmade. Ceramics. Planters. These three would have to be one of the biggest homeware movements going around at the moment wouldn’t you say? We can’t get enough; well I know I certainly can’t. I find myself constantly scouring the stores or online to find something beautiful and handmade that I can dream about adding to my collection. Today I’m shining the spotlight on some lovely ceramics that I’ve been admiring on Instagram made by Adelaide artist, Katia Carletti.
Easter Tree Wishes
Easter, along with Christmas, is probably the only time that there’s a bit of silence on the blogosphere. Other than Instagram posts, most bloggers just shut their computers and enjoy the four-day, long weekend with friends and family.
