When we moved from Sydney to Auckland, we had to give all of our plants away and I can’t believe that a year later, we still haven’t anything green inside!
Having living plants makes a difference to a home don’t you think?
Here is a photo of a vintage stand with a gorgeous arrangement of plants at our friend’s house. I love this look, it reminds me of my grandmother’s garden when I was growing up. She had loads of these stands lined up against the outside wall, all weather battered, with the enamel chipping off in places.
With a baby crawling around, something like this might be a little hazardous inside for now. I think that I’ll look for something hanging instead.
Do you have any indoor plant ideas for the home? I’d love to hear, especially if they’re hardy plants because I’m not the green thumb type!

growing up i used to cringe at my mother and her beloved indoor plants but i too love them inside the home. I need to learn to take care of mine a little more as they tend to get neglected!
Hi Mel,,I’m enjoying your little blog! Some great indoor plants are Madonna Lilies, Happy Plants, smooth edged Bromeliads and mini bamboo- like the one’s we had in our office at work. They are all pretty hardy.! African Violets placed on a window sill in the sunshine work well too and they come in a great range of colours! Placing indoor and outdoor potted plants in a self watering pot and then into a larger pot of your choice (if you’d prefer the look of) means you don’t have to keep on remembering to water them everyday. Due to the dust build up produced by the air inside it’s nice to give thier leaves, which they breathe through, a gentle wipe over with a damp cloth/paper towel every now and then.
