With great pleasure I have Jen Bishop on board today to answer my 5 Decorating Questions. Jen, (in case you didn’t know) is founder of the very successful Australian blog, Interiors Addict, where she reports on affordable interior trends and ideas along with regular industry interviews. She also has an innate ability to resonate with her readers, me included.
What truly brought Jen’s blog to my attention was the start of her monthly 7 Vignettes in 7 Days Instagram Challenge. Each month, Jen collaborates with a different stylist to come up with seven different themes for a vignette and after that, it’s up to us to get creative and snap away and the guest judge picks the winner. It’s such a fantastic initiative and a great way for us to have some fun! If you’re up for it, a new challenge just started on Monday, so you’ve still got plenty of time to take part.
Over to you Jen….
How would you best describe your style?
Varied! I often say I need several homes to experiment with the many looks I love. Maybe it’s because I am so overexposed to different trends and products. I love a lot of them! My current home is very colourful but I plan for my next house to be more muted (for my other half’s benefit!) and envision lots of greys and whites.
What’s your favourite decorative piece that you own?
A sixties marble topped coffee table I picked up on eBay for $65. I love marble and I love that this piece has a history and a few imperfections and knocks.
White walls or coloured?
Coloured, even if just something like a very subtle grey.
If you could splurge on one thing for the home, what would it be?
A set of 6 Wishbone chairs for my dining table.
Great decoration…
is about what YOU love. Your interiors should make you feel happy to come home to them. There’s no right or wrong. If you love it, buy it or do it!
Thanks so much for stopping by Jen!
You can follow Jen on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram
Have a great day everyone and see you back here on Friday.

She’s great – I heard her talk at Blogsociety recently. I like her blog too!
Oh that would have been fab to see!
Couldn’t agree more with Jen about the fact that there is no right or wrong in decoration. It’s only about what you love. Thanks for introducing me to her blog!
Have a lovely day Mel :)
You’re welcome Corinne. Have a great weekend x
I’ve seen the 7vignette images before but didn’t know who started it or that it was a challenge. I’d love to take part in the future (even though only Aussies can win …) Thank you for sharing, Mel!
You should! I was so tempted this time but with my impending trip to Australia and still so much to do around the house, I thought I’d wait. M x
You interview the best people Mel! A lovely read. Thank you! x
Glad you enjoyed it Michelle x
Ah-I got so addicted to the 7 vignettes with Jen, I had to stop while when work got really busy, but that doesn’t stop me from admiring all the other entries each month-a great idea from her-well done Jen! Have a lovely week Mel! xx
Caroline, you’d do brilliant ones! I must go back on your instagram and check them out. Have a lovely week too x
