At last we’ve finally unpacked most of our boxes and found a place for all of our furniture! Although we haven’t yet hung our frames and all of the decorative bits and bobs, what we have done, is install our retro swing wall arm lamp. The last time we had it up was in Sydney so we’ve really missed it! It looks so cool and I haven’t seen one like it before –  I’ll definitely take some photos in the next couple of weeks to show you, but until then, I thought I’d round up a few of my favourite swing arm lamps:

1. The Workstead Industrial Chandelier

Designed by Brooklyn Design firm, Workstead, have created industrial elegance. The arms can be configured in various positions and would look incredible above a dining table or in the living room..

2. Spider Sconce 2 Arms by Serge Mouille (Applique 2 Bras)

A true representation of Mid century design at its best, the “Applique 2 bras” feels grown up and ever so stylish. Just perfect above a bed or sofa.

3. Wall Lamp Factory swing by House Doctor

The majority of swing lamps carrying designer price tags, so thankfully the Danish design company, House Doctor has come up with an affordable option. It works beautifully as a bedside or desk lamp.

4. Swing Jib Lamp by Prouvé (Potence d´éclairage)

This would have to be my dream arm lamp; it’s effortlessly chic! The arm extends to two metres and rotates 180 degrees so the uses for this lamp are endless.

In case you’re wondering the meaning of my moodboard title, Potence d’éclairage, it’s actually a generic term in French for swing arm lamps and used by Jean Prouvé for this lamp! I also think French writing looks so beautiful to the eye. My eldest boy, aged 5 is now learning to write with that beautiful French script, it’s adorable and he’ll soon have much more beautiful writing than his Australian mother!

Are you on Pinterest? If you’d like to look at examples of how stunning swing arm lamps look in interiors, I have a Pinterest board dedicated entirely to them. Click here to go to my boards and look for one titled Swing Lamps.

Have a happy weekend everyone!

Oh, I love swing arm lamps! I can’t wait to see some photos of yours. I get such a buzz seeing Roman learn to read and write. It must be amazing to see them do it in two languages! Have a lovely weekend Mel x

We stumbled last year by chance into a Serge Mouille vernissage in Paris. Can you imagine a whole gallery space full of original Mouille lamps? Floor lamps, pendants, desk lamps- they had everything and in all colors! A true paradise. Since then, any of his lamps are on my wish list!
