It feels good to be home after two fantastic jam-packed weeks in Sydney.  We had so much fun reconnecting with friends and family and soaking up the city again.  We were completely spoilt with the weather, the sun shone every day bar one, and temperatures reached a crazy (for winter) 24 degrees Celsius. I admit we were lucky because I was told that the weeks prior were wet and cold…

We hired a house in Coogee for ten of the days and made our way to the beach a fair bit and spent the afternoons and evenings catching up with everyone. One place where we kept gravitating towards was Surry Hills; it’s where Guillaume and I lived before we had children. The place has such a great vibe and just keeps getting better. I love walking through the streets lined with cafes, Victorian terrace houses and cottages, most of them restored and some of them extraordinary examples of architecture, marrying modern with the old like this one that I’ve admired for many years.

I discovered a fantastic little fashion concept store, The Standard Store that stocks some gorgeous French, Danish and British brands at reasonable prices which is pretty much unheard of in this part of the world. I would have happily packed the entire store in my suitcase. We did manage to make a second trip back!

I paid a visit to an old favourite, Ici et La, an interesting store full of French vintage furniture and wares.  You can see more photos of this gorgeous shop on my Instagram feed.

More cafes… Oh look at those tiles!

Some of you may recall a shop tour I did during my last Sydney visit of Small Spaces in East Redern? It was so lovely to pop back in to say hello and see more of Sarah’s new stock. One particular thing that struck me was this cool little sculpture of straws and tape that was done by an 11 year old – fun! Sarah has impeccable taste is a big supporter of local and international artists and functional design furniture like Muuto. It’s such an interesting shop and a must visit when in Sydney.

I was so pleased that my visit coincided with the celebrated stylist, Megan Morton’s The Horses Fete held at The School! Knowing that there would be some eye candy around, I remembered to pack my camera so I will do post on this in the coming week. I also organised to meet up with fellow blogger, Anastasia from Anastasia Drawing and Dreaming there. It was so lovely to meet her in person. It’s funny, I felt like I knew her as we’ve been following each others blogs for some time. After the fete we slipped next door to Koskela to drool some more, once again, photos to be posted at a later date and then finished up with lunch and a good chat at Kitchen By Mike. It was a great day!

Friends introduced me to my latest Sydney love, The Grounds, an awesome converted industrial park that I will also show more of to you soon. Stay tuned.

That’s about it for my Sydney round up but you can always see more instagram photos from our trip here.

I’ll be back on Wednesday with 5 Food Questions.
