Life's Soundtrack

There’s often that same soundtrack playing in our home for a certain length of time and just like a perfume, forever the memories of these moments will be tied to the music.

So this is what we’re listening to in our house at the moment…

Lou Doillon – Places

I love this album, it’s so well produced and a journey from the beginning until the end and it’s playing all the time especially now that our children know how to find it. I’ve got a bit of girl crush on Lou Doillon, she is the epitome of coolness and I’m devastated that she’s not coming to Auckland in January when she plays in Sydney!

Emilíana Torrini – Fisherman’s Woman

This is such an old album that I bought probably about ten years ago but I’ve recently started listening to it again. It makes me feel really calm and I adore her voice. I love rediscovering music.

Wild Belle – Isles

What a cool debut album from a brother and sister duo out of Chicago. Guillaume read about them in Le Monde online and downloaded it straight away. It’s the perfect album to play in the background when friends are over for drinks. Once again, it’s an album that flows perfectly from the beginning to the very end.

What’s your soundtrack?

My soundtracks – two of them at the moment are the XX their XX album and Ane Brun It All Starts With One…have to check yours – actually yesterday I bought from flea market that Emiliana Torrini’s cd…have to listen it!

  2. Kate

Agnes Obel…. she is just the best. Dominic even insists on listening to her, which is a little eccentric for a 2.5 year old. Either way, she is Danish, plays the piano beautifully and is altogether very cool. Another new favourite is Uncle Jed… they just one Australia’s got talent (don’t let this put you off). They are massively talented. I love their version of ‘Give me love’ by Ed Sheeran… gives me goose pimples it is so good. Anything by Clare Bowditch and Bernard Fanning also rates highly. Oh and Holly Throsby – love them! Holly has a brilliant children’s album too which we love – music for the very cool toddler ;) I could go on and on :)
Hope you are having a good week. Kate x
