sarah tuck - from the kitchen

Let me introduce you to Sarah; a Kiwi who writes a brilliant food blog, From The Kitchen. It’s a fairly recent discovery that I was so happy when I did. You know the ones, every image pin worthy, and loads of delicious and mostly uncomplicated looking recipes. Sarah’s day job is that of a recipe developer, food stylist and photographer so you can imagine what her readers are in for. Coupled with that is a friendly writing voice that you can’t help smile while reading – you’ll get an idea about what I mean with her answers below. Really, if you haven’t yet met the blog, “In The Kitchen”, make sure you pop over to say hi, you won’t be disappointed! It’s without saying that I’m so pleased to have Sarah here today to answer my 5 Food Questions!

Over to you Sarah…

Who had the biggest influence on you for your love of preparing food?

Even though she has never liked cooking I would have to say my Mum, because when I was little, even though she didn’t (and still doesn’t) enjoy it, she did it with so much love – I can clearly remember small, crumbed French cutlets with the ends wrapped in brown paper, fiddly-to-make and unbelievably delicious Dutch croquette every birthday, and crepes with lemon and sugar for dinner whenever Dad was away on business…and my Mum making us all cross our fingers whenever she put anything in the oven!

What will be on your Christmas menu this year?

I am doing a double-whammy Christmas this year with a gathering for breakfast and then a smaller one for dinner. Breakfast will definitely include some of my special Bircher muesli (studded with fresh raspberries and blueberries and sprinkled with praline, because it seems fabulously inappropriate for breakfast) as well as fresh fruit, toasty croissants with ripe brie and Christmas ham, and a glass or three of champagne. Dinner will be stuffed chickens wrapped in prosciutto, potato gratin or tartiflette and a huge simple rocket salad followed by Merry Cherry Christmousse and baby Christmas mince pies.

Chocolate or vanilla?

So hard!!! Vanilla…

If you had the opportunity to host a dinner party with a table of famous or infamous whom would you invite?

I’m going to need a decent sized table – Tilda Swinton, Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep and Isabel Marant, then better have Marlon Brando, Jamie Oliver, Stephen Fry and Justin Timberlake (Oh my God – where can I squeeze in Jude Law, Grace Coddington and Dawn French??!)

Food…

is what I think about from the moment I wake up until I head off to sleep, choosing it, preparing it, photographing it and sharing it with the people I love.

Thanks so much Sarah!

I don’t know about you readers, but I think I’ll be trying that Merry Cherry Christmousse this Christmas! You can follow From The Kitchen on Facebook , Pinterest and Twitter
