This month our friends at Urban Jungle Bloggers HQ asked us to show us our “plant shefie”. So here is mine… a neglected plant brought back in from the garden, a thriving one relocated from the kitchen windowsill, and another that recently had their mother removed after it grew into a strange shape in search of the winter sun. After this exercise, I realise how nice it is to see a few plants in this part of the house, there’s certainly enough light for them here, so a couple will definitely be staying for a while.
I haven’t introduced any new indoor plants this month because the other weekend I stocked up on a load of edibles for my back deck area which I’m super excited about. I hope that I will be able to show you this little container garden sometime soon, that is if they survive, as they need a lot more care than the succulents I mainly have success with. Fingers crossed.
Would you like to show us your plant shelfie? Perhaps you’d like a little challenge of throwing one together? You’ll even see that some bloggers have made some makeshift shelves in the name of the challenge. Anyone can join in and it’s loads of fun. You have until November 15 share yours and this month Igor and Judith have a little prize for their five favourites. See the end of the post for details.
Have a great Wednesday everyone.
Mel xx

Really nice Mel. It’s nice to see close ups of your bookshelves and those gorgeous plants. You always show us how less is more… really lovely. x
Thanks Tina, happy to say that two of the plants stayed there and look really sweet. Mel x
Hi Mel, your plant shelfie is wonderful! I have noticed that we share a love of interior books! I love the bookshelf you have also. Perfect for display. xD
Thanks Doris. My husband sketched and measured up the bookshelf, we bought the materials and we had it build for us although we have a big mark on the top from a plant a long time ago…
Super lovely shelfie Mel! You’ve got a wicked collection of books there, and I love your string of pearls, they’ve got such a great look to them!
Such a nice bookcase plant shelfie, Mel! Love the Ericofon and the collection of beautiful books and plants. Very exciting you recently got some edible plants. Looking forward to seeing your container garden! xx
Thanks Judith. We got that Ericsson phone for a steal – I think about $5 about 10 years ago x
nice! We have a red one (also bought at least a decade ago hihi) and I still love them :) Such a classic design!
Hello Mel,
Really like your ‘plant shelfie’. I have a weakness for succulents and I do love yours.
Nitasha
Thank you Nitasha and lovely to have you here:) Mel
Love to see more and more of you rhone, Mel. It looks now pretty familiar which is really nice! Sending a warm hug over!
Hugs to you too Gudy xx
Beautiful, Mel! Love your arrangement of books, I always find it quite challenging to arrenge the books on a shelf so that it would look pleasant to the eye.
Fingers crossed that your container garden will turn out well and all the plants will survive :)
Thanks Anu. Well suddenly we’re getting so much rain that I hope they won’t rot. Oh dear… Mel x
really lovely! i love a sprinkle of Green on the house!
Thanks Anastasia. Yes me too. I can’t believe that indoor plants were not the “done” thing not so long ago. xx
Hi Mel!
I can see my two favorite things a font and succulent. Looks lovely!
Yesterday I noticed that one plant (don’t remember the name) I have grows well in small room that is full of (still) my things. And same plant in living room doens’t grow so well…and the windows are in same side of the house…weird I think. Going to move the other one to this small room too. I have also plants in my workspace. They makes the place more cosy.
Have a great day!
xo

So weird! I’d like to know how it goes next to the healthy one. Perhaps plants are just like people, some healthier than others and for no apparent reason? Hugs to you. Mel x
Really like the look and feel of this. Plants and books, lovely! Can’t wait to see your container garden, would love to grow veg myself. x
Thanks Yvonne. Yes I hope that it all works well. I’ve started small, a couple of tomato plants, lettuce, herbs, strawberries and rocket… see how I go with that. The kids love it! Mel x
Beautiful shelfie there, Mel! I love the photos….do you think the books read themselves to the plants? I do! Plants are good for the soul of every thing….hehe ;) Big hug to you! Jocelyn xx
Hehe, oh wouldn’t the plants just love to be read to! Thanks Jocelyn, I hope you and that bump of yours are getting a bit of rest…! Mel xx
Thank you so much for joining us despite the time constraint, Mel! Your plant shelfie looks adorable – the combination of books and plants is simply a winner!
Oh thanks Igor, I love the challenge and all of this green in the home is so good for the soul. x
