I always have some plants in the bedroom, but it’s usually on the table beside the window, where there’s light. I quite like the idea of having some green beside the bed though, so this month’s Urban Jungle Bloggers challenge, “cosy and green” was welcome. It makes sense to have some plants close to where you sleep, they purify the air for one, and some how make us feel more at ease.
Today I’m showing off my new addition to our plant family. I haven’t seen one like this before but I just love the way he grows up and curls. He was re-potted into a mini cocotte that I found at the back of the kitchen cupboard which I think looks kind of cute.
So this is where we try to hang out on weekend mornings. We encouraged our three children to watch the cartoons by themselves on the weekends pretty early on in the piece so that we can have a little lie in. Of course, there’s no real objections on their part! The ritual always comes with a pot of tea and a read of a magazine or book. I’m sure that any of you with young kids would agree that we need to steal whatever moment to ourselves we can get, because they really are far and few between. My bedroom definitely feels like a sanctuary to me, that is just as long as I can shut the door.
Usually all I have beside the bed is some water, lip-gloss, a bunch of books, my kindle (I have a habit of reading about three different books at once) and a sweet smelling candle. I particularly love my latest mini candle by George & Edi, the scent of French Pear drifting through the room is divine and it’s small enough for my componibili bedside table. A plant there feels so good for the soul though! I don’t think that these particular varieties will be happy there for too long, so I’ll relocate them beside a window sometime soon. I’ll definitely be on the look out for one a little more suitable.
Do you have plants in the room?
Mel xx

Hi Mel,
May I ask what colour you’ve used on your walls in your bedroom? It’s beautifully serene.
Thanks x
Hi Georgia. We actually rent this house so didn’t paint it ourselves however I went under the house to check the paints and this is the one they’ve noted for the walls. It seems right and when I look at the swatch here, it doesn’t have such a green look but it’s kind of how it looks in the sun. When there is not a lot of light, it does have a green undertone. Hope this helps:

Thanks very much, Mel! X
Thanks so much Mel.
Such a lovely room. Who makes that bedside lamp?
Hi Ann. Thank you so much! The bedside lamp is a vintage eyeball lamp. You should be able to find them if you search Etsy or EBay. Mel:)
Aha, the Kartell Componibili storage unit. Did you know it now comes in Copper? I do fancy it but it’s so much more expensive… http://www.madeindesign.co.uk/prod-componibili-storage-unit-2-elements-metallized-ref5966-rr.html
Love the mini cocotte you’ve planted your new addition in.
Hope you’re well lovely x
Oh I love it in copper – so cool! I could definitely see you having one. Funny, a gorgeous package arrived in the post today. Yay – love the Mapology guides!!! I’m going to do a little IG in the next couple of days. Big hugs! Mel xx

Just another thing for you to fall head over heals in love with…
Lovely, Mel! You’ve got so many nice and unique things. xx
Oh thanks Hege, accumulated over a long time xx
What a cute curly one in the petite cocotte! Such a good idea, I have 2 small black cocottes in the cupboard too (never used!) so I’m definitely filling them with plants soon ;) Thank you for showing your very cosy bedroom, Mel! And hurray for Weekend mornings, very clever that you learned your kids to occupy themselves for some extra sleep or relax-time :)
Oh good! Yes always happy when I find something that I already own to plant in. x
Oh, that black cocotte is fab. Love that idea. You reading three books at the same time made me smile, I do that too! Glad to know I’m not the only one ;)
Haha, yes it’s definitely a certain type of personality that does that;-) xx
What a very cosy look and feel in your bedroom, Mel! Beautiful with all the natural hues! Thank you for joining us again!!
Thanks Igor, it’s always such a pleasure:)
