Before most of you will be thrown into the final preparations of Christmas, I wanted to take this moment to wish you all a wonderful day. I hope that each of you take some time to unwind, read a good book and enjoy fun times with friends and family. There really is no better time to celebrate life than the week of Christmas to New Years. I love listening to everyone’s reflections of the past year and their hopes and dreams for the next, it really is quite magical.
Just last night we decided on the Christmas menu. I know, a little last minute but it will be just the five of us, all the same, it will be special. I will get the children involved in making vanilla sugar cookies for our neighbours (and a few for ourselves), Guillaume will be stuffing fresh dates with almond paste like his grandmother once did, along with chocolate truffles. We will start our Christmas lunch with fois gras, followed by a roasted salmon with pickled baby beetroot and crème fraiche dressing from the November issue of Cuisine magazine. Dessert will be this decedent chocolate and raspberry Pavlova by the trusty Nigella. Of course we’ll dress the table beautifully and these marble candleholders will most certainly be part of it. I just love the theatre of it all don’t you?
I’ll be taking a couple of weeks break from blogging to fully enjoy these special moments. I will see you in 2015 refreshed and ready to take on the new year and of course, the restyle of the blog which I’m bursting with excitement about!
Thank you all so much for visiting me this past year, I’m truly grateful for you and your support.
Merry Christmas to you and your family, be safe and enjoy!
Mel xx

We’re celebrating it small here as well. In the last few years I really grew to treasure the quiet time between Christmas and New Years. No pressure, no work (well, for the day job anyway ;)), just enjoy. Wouldn’t trade it for the world…
So excited for your new blog, good luck!
Thanks Yvonne. Enjoy your small gathering, it’s an excuse to make it all the more special. Big hugs! Mel x
