40 facts about me

A little fun today. Just the other day I enjoyed reading Jocelyn’s 40 facts (about me) post and I thought I will join in too. So here it is, some funny, strange, sad and fun facts about me:

  1. My eyes are blue with right one having a quarter hazel down the bottom
  1. My three children were born through c-section. The first two were emergency and the third elective
  1. I’m probably a little too anxious about my children’s safety
  1. I suffered from adrenal fatigue about 18 months ago. I now know the warning signs and manage this
  1. I once studied ballet, getting top marks each year during the examination
  1. Not continuing ballet has been one of my greatest regrets in life
  1. Funny enough, I moved into a house in Auckland only to find out that my old ballet friend from Sydney was my landlord
  1. I can’t stand not having my toenails not painted
  1. I struggle with high heals
  1. I broke my little toe badly over a year ago and it never healed properly so I’m about to see an orthopaedic surgeon
  1. I love (like really love) ice-cream
  1. I blame my parents for that because I had an ice-cream cone for dessert every day when I grew up
  1. I broke my little tooth on the back of someone’s head on a waterslide when I was a child
  1. I’m a huge fan of Gwyneth Paltrow, even though there are a lot of Gwyneth haters out there
  1. I grew up in a beach suburb south of Sydney and my mother would pick me up from school each day and we’d walk across the road to the beach
  1. I smoked a lot during my late teens and twenties
  1. I now take vitamins every day
  1. I met my French husband at a flea market in Toulouse, France
  1. My first car was a Kombi van that I bought with two friends to travel around Europe in.
  1. We named her Betty
  1. In the space of eighteen months I lost a close friend to a car accident, my cousin in a motorbike accident and an ex-boyfriend to suicide.
  1. My gut feeling is usually right
  1. My “gut feeling” got me out of a lot of hairy situations, especially when I was backpacking around Europe
  1. I would one day like to write a novel
  1. My father has written two
  1. I broke my arm three times as a child
  1. I have a British passport
  1. My height is 162cm
  1. My hair is naturally blonde although it’s getting darker over time so when I get around to it, I lighten it
  1. I can’t draw for the life of me
  1. The rest of my family can do it well
  1. I was a rebel
  1. I went to the Ramones concert
  1. My first album was Xanadu
  1. I dream of having my own studio at home across the garden (and pool)
  1. I’ve managed to dint almost every panel of my car
  1. I’m horrible to be around if I’m hungry
  1. I quite often fall asleep when I watch a movie
  1. I cry when my friends suffer
  1. I hate my knees being touched

    So lovely to learn more about you Mel, I also have a british passport. It’s such a great way to get to know a little more about someone and some of the facts are so interesting.     Loved reading these 40 facts. Being slightly over-anxious about your children’s safety is something I can totally relate to as I’m the same. Also, I have green eyes with a hazel dot in my right eye ;-) Great to find out more about you xo

      Oh I love meeting people with a similar eye thing! It’s so rare, usually a once every few year thing for me and now it’s the 2nd in a couple of weeks. Mel xx

      Thanks Caroline! It was from last Saturday when I tried a do out for the upcoming about me photo. It’s confronting getting older, I know I had my bit turning 40. There’s so many positives, women come into themselves mid age, they understand who they are, the career thing clicks…Plus I know some pretty amazing looking 50 yr olds, you’re one of them (from the peeks I’ve had). Mel xx

    Hi Mel, lovely reading this. #21 was the most surprising. #14 made me laugh — I too am a GOOP fan. By the way, since I haven’t seen you in ages, I wasn’t sure that it was you who I saw at the grocery store last week. From the photo above, I’m certain now it was you! Your hair has grown!
