Easter, along with Christmas, is probably the only time that there’s a bit of silence on the blogosphere. Other than Instagram posts, most bloggers just shut their computers and enjoy the four-day, long weekend with friends and family.
I always look forward to these weekends, complete guilt free indulgence and I don’t mean chocolate here. Indulgence for me is really the simple things, waking up a little later, a long leisurely walk, sitting in the afternoon sun with a cup of tea and reading a good book. Mostly, it’s undistracted time with the family. What about you? What are your simple indulgences?
The other day I received an order from a beautiful ceramicist that I’ve been following for some time, Keiko Matsui, and one of the items was this sweet bud vase. I’m totally in love with it and it inspired me to make this little Easter tree with quail eggs.
If you love ceramics, you should check out Keiko’s Instagram feeds for her latest work, she has one for her tableware and another that she created for her monochromatic decorative pieces. I also did a post on her work some time back which you can see here.
Have you made an Easter tree this season? I suggested making one for my NZ House & Garden column this month. If you do, make sure you share it on Instagram and tag @nzhouseandgarden.
I wish you all a wonderful Easter break!
Mel xx
I had a bit of a break myself – its always nice and the extra days off work is wonderful chance to spend quality time with friends and family!
Its Greek Easter this weekend too so Im looking forward to more celebrations!
Oh happy Greek Easter to you Anastasia. M xx
Mel, this tree is absolutely gorgeous! Your photography is stunning and not to mention the sweetness of those eggs! You are so talented my friend and thank you for sharing your light with us. Jocelyn xx
Thanks Jocelyn. Hope you and your lovely little family have a great Easter. This will be the last sane one for you, that’s for sure;-)
Happy Easter to you and family Mel. I love the four day Easter break, I find it quiet and meaningful and love to slow cook some lamb. We don’t do any decorating at Easter time. When we were in New York this time last year walking around Brooklyn there were alot of front doors decorated with easter wreaths etc. It looked fantastic. I love your Easter tree, the bud vase is beautiful in it’s simplicity and there is something ‘spiritual’ about it and your photos. Catherine x
Wow was it a year ago when you were in NY? Time flies and that also means that your birthday must be near! Have a lovely Easter Catherine, I’d love to be at your table eating that lamb:) x
Yes but now I’m looking down the barrel of 51 which isn’t as exciting as turning 50! xxx
