Oh do I have some serious eye candy for you flower and cake lovers all the way from New Zealand! Two creative talents here, Antonia from Markantonia and Jordan from The Caker teamed up for a stunning photoshoot collaboration, and today you’re the first to see the images here on Styled Canvas.
Antonia is a florist with a difference; she has a love affair with dried flowers and along with beautiful fresh bouquets, she creates the most exquisite dried arrangements and wreaths that are pretty much works of art. She is one half of Markantonia, her husband, Mark, makes some seriously cool custom made furniture, and together they make handmade candles, but that’s a story in itself.
Coincidently, in the space of about one week, I followed her on Instagram, had a conversation with Cameron from Flotsam & Jetsam, who suggested that I cover her work here on the blog, and then while I was shopping at Fabric in Newmarket, I noticed some interesting arrangements on display and asked who made them. I got the message and contacted Antonia that next day. We exchanged a few emails and arranged to do something in the coming months.
The other day, she got in touch to tell me about a fun collaboration she was working on with Jordan from The Caker, and to see if I’d like to share the photos here on the blog. Jordan is a bit of powerhouse of cakes here. Beautiful, handmade cakes put together the old fashioned way with the best ingredients. Aucklanders just can’t get enough of her and her cakes! She has also released a cookbook and a boutique cake mix pack that is sold at the best stores in town. A perfect match to Antonia’s work, Jordan is renown for decorating her cakes with beautiful fresh flowers instead of sickly icing.
The two girls met when Jordan made Antonia and Mark’s wedding cake and the girls have been friends since. You can see photos of their beautiful winter garden wedding over on the Made From Scratch blog.
There is simply nothing better than seeing creative forces come together and decorating Jordan’s cakes with Antonia’s stunning dried arrangements and wreaths, just takes it to a whole new level. Enjoy the beautiful imagery by Neeve Woodward and do pop over to Markantonia and The Caker for more beauty.

After seeing the picture on Twitter today, I knew I had to stop by and marvel at such powerful creations. Each creative is great, but together they work wonders and are even stronger it seems. Great minds, great craft! And to think that dried flowers often represent decay and approaching death – I see only life (or rebirth?) in these creations!
Wow what a wonderful collaboration, the cake and the flower arrangements are just stunning. Both ladies sound fascinating, the way you described Jordan has me very interested in learning more about her cakes Mel. Thank you Jordan and Antonia, love the muted colours and just want to dig into a slice of that beautiful cake whilst staring at the beautiful flowers.
So beautiful!! We love Antonia’s work and we were lucky enough to sample that cake!! So DELICIOUS!! Match made in heaven, those two :)
You’re certainly right about a match made in heaven! Thanks for stopping by:) Mel
