When I received the theme of Plants & Art for the September Urban Jungle Bloggers, I knew that I needed to keep it really simple and focus on just one plant and one work of art because what I had in mind look like they’re made for each other. These two beauties deserve equal starring roles here, like two principal dancers. They both share the same movement and I think that the green and pink just go together so beautifully too.
I wish that I knew the name of this plant; I got it not long ago and kept the care ticket but can’t find it for the life of me now. The artwork is by a contemporary aboriginal artist and if you’re a regular here, you’re probably aware that I have a huge love of this type of artwork. Which brings me to more news…
I’m so excited to be amongst twelve bloggers to represent Urban Jungle Bloggers in the vtwonen blogazine, a special edition by the Dutch interiors magazine that coincides with Meet The Blogger. If you’ve seen it, you’ll no doubt recognise this same painting. Yep, I recycle things around here! All of the bloggers and their green loving homes look fantastic in it. So I just wanted to do a big shout out and thank Judith and Igor for creating this fun, friendly community and encouraging us all to embrace the beauty of green in the home. I’m pretty sure that they’ve contributed enormously to this plant trend that’s been sweeping the world don’t you?
Happy weekend everyone and I look forward to seeing lots of Urban Jungle Bloggers sharing their plants & art over the weekend.
Mel xx

How the heck have I missed this post, Mel??? Well at least I can help out with the plant name (in case you are still looking for the care tag LOL): It’s a Calathea orbifolia and I know it because I want one too:-))
Ah thanks Igor, I was searching for the name the other day:) It is such a hearty plant so I do recommend it… Just not too much sun though, it got a little burnt in the first position. x
Love the combination of textures in this Urban Jungle Blog post, the super smooth shine to the floor, against the textural woven planter, plus the smooth sculptural form of the leaves are wonderful. The print from the painting acts as the perfect backdrop too complimenting the line forms on the leaves :)
Wow these were made for each other, Mel! And thank you for being part of the vtwonen blogazine! I think we all and our plants look pretty great ;) xx
Wow that really pops, Mel! And congratulations to you too ;) on the Urbanjunglebloggers article. Such an amazing green community. xx
Beautiful! I love the contrasting colours and patterns x
Thanks Abi. Have a great weekend:)
