For the July edition of Urban Jungle Bloggers, we were asked to make our plants pop with some colour. This bright and happy theme is also a send off before they break for the summer months in the northern hemisphere. Even better though, and more room for celebration is the impeccable timing of this theme with the joy that is spreading around the world #LoveWins.
When they mentioned a colour backdrop, I immediately thought of these totally kitsch and colourful placemats that we bought from Madder & Rouge a while ago. I actually tried a number of different plants but because the pattern was so busy, I needed something really solid to photograph, hence my trusty cactus is back in front of the camera again.
I just took a look at the Urban Jungle Bloggers website and it really is an explosion of colour there, so do pop over to have a look and click on some of the talented bloggers that are part of this plant loving community.
Scroll down for a behind the scenes shot. Yes, my son’s bedroom is quite often my studio and at times he comes back to his bedroom in complete disarray. When he sees this image his first words will no doubt be, “oh mummy not again!” If anyone is my biggest supporter to get my own studio, it’s him. Here’s hoping.
Wishing all of the Urban Jungle Bloggers out there one lovely sunny summer break but remember to give it back to us soon!
Mel x

Love the bright colourful floral print backdrop against the cactus, a cool contrast :)
Thanks so much Glyn!
Hahahaha like Tina I’d never expected to see these Kitsch Kitchen patterns for this month’s #plantcolorpop, but somehow it seems to work! Lucky son & us (& you) if you’ll manage to find a house with a studio. Keeping fingers crossed for you, Mel Bises!
Thanks Judith – I know a little wild and rebellious for this one ;-)
What a colourful backdrop full of pattern for your gorgeous cactus! Thank you so much for joining us again, Mel!
Have a lovely break Igor x
Wow. Talk about loud colours and patterns!
Never thought we would see this on your blog:-)
The cactus works really well here.
Oh, I can just imagine your son feeling his space is being invaded! Why not turn it around and make him your photography assistant? Like his he’ll feel included, can learn and assist you without you feeling guilty all the time.
Meanwhile work on getting a studio .
Happy new week lovely xx
Haha, yep I know and I was actually looking at my instagram feed thinking how on earth will I inject SO much colour into it! I’m visualising for that studio Tina. Happy new week too x
