A New Mantle
The past couple of weeks I haven’t touched a box. Once the essentials were out and everything was manageable I just kind of collapsed with exhaustion. So that means we’ve got furniture around the house that we haven’t quite found a home for, barely any paintings on the wall, let alone anything decorative around and oh yes, still loads of boxes. Hardly inspiring. Yesterday I was fed up, so played around with some of our things on the mantle in our bedroom. It probably won’t stay like that, but it’s nice for now.
Our Renovation, The Bathroom
When we renovated the bathroom of our Sydney apartment some six or seven years ago, we faced two challenges, a lack of space and a limited budget. That bathroom was teeny tiny – so tiny that it was impossible to take a photo of all of the features!
My Space – Hege Morris of Hege in France
Today I’m back with my new regular feature, My Space and I’m so pleased to have Hege, from the gorgeous blog, Hege in France sharing a little piece of her world with us . Hege is Norwegian and lives in France with her Scottish husband and their young son. Her blog is about interior decorating and DIY projects – I especially enjoy her weekly feature, “Tuesday Tips” along with her own home styling shoots. Some very exciting news is that her home will be featured in an upcoming Norwegian interior book, “Sanselige Rom”, which translates to “Room for all the Senses”.
5 Decorating Questions with Sian MacPherson
As promised, I’m so pleased to have Sian MacPherson, Editor-In-Chief of Est Magazine visiting us to answer my 5 Decorating Questions today.
Est Magazine has just recently turned two, and what an achievement that in such a short time, Sian and Lynda have turned this Australian digital magazine into an adored global go to resource for the latest in design, interiors and fashion. For me it’s a place to unwind and drink up the incredible interiors of the super stylish and creatives alike. Their latest issue doesn’t disappoint, it’s packed full of interior goodness, with one particular story that stood out for me; an old butter factory conversion that’s a real testament to its owners and their personal style. You really must check it out; it’s free to subscribe.
Finding a Bargain Part 2
Hi everyone, I’m back with Finding a Bargain. In this mini-series, I show you an area in our home and reveal the great buys we found along the way. It’s to prove that you needn’t spend a fortune to decorate, it’s about keeping an eye out at all times and being ready to purchase a deal at the time you see it, because in my experience you rarely find it when you’re looking for it! You can see part 1 here.
Finding a Bargain
On Friday night I was having a chat with a friend who told me that he really loves reading my blog and all of the gorgeous things showcased and then with a big sigh, said that a lot of them are so out of reach for him.
Flotsam & Jetsam Auckland
There’s something about this photo of Cameron standing at the entrance of Flotsom and Jetsam. While editing the photos for this post, I had the urge to turn it to black and white, to somehow pay homage to the history of this shop front, just as Cameron does on his website, using an old photo from the original shop, Steptoe & Son. It then went on to become Lord Ponsonby’s Antiques, and just last month, opened its doors to Flotsam and Jetsam after outgrowing its old premises.
The Vitrine Auckland
One of my favourite stores in Auckland is The Vitrine, and if you’ve read my about me page, you’ll understand why I think the owners, Amanda and Julien have one of the coolest jobs in the world; travelling back to France and going to the best flea markets in Europe, to fill their warehouse store in Grey Lynn.
