blown glass
Monmouth Glass Studio
When we look at a beautiful artisan product, quite often we are unaware of the beauty that takes place as the makers create their craft. I had the chance to witness Isaac and Steve of Monmouth Glass Studio, in the act of blowing glass earlier this month and the experience has certainly left an impression. I’ve long admired blown glass, but I was quite taken back by the surreal experience of watching this ancient craft.
Amanda Dziedzic Handblown Glass
Just yesterday, I discovered glass artist, Amanda Dziedzic through her newly released collaboration with Gorman Hometime. I love how Kit Gorman works with talented local and international artists and this particular collection is the sweetest limited edition glass carafe and tumbler set, all hand blown. I would have loved to have shown them here but the images were a little too small. They’d make a such a gorgeous gift, so do pop over to take a look.
The FoodWork Project
I’m ready for a bit of eye candy on the blog aren’t you?
FoodWork is an independent project by eight Norwegian designers that was shown at the Tokyo Design Tide, 2012. To me it’s a collection of beautiful and very useful everyday objects. I love how their inspiration was of merging products that are used in Norway, yet would also be relevant in Japanese living. That alone is quite an achievement considering how worlds apart their cultures seem.
The Woods
Today I thought I’d leave you for the week with something that completely took my breath away when I saw it yesterday.
The Woods is a second collaboration between Norwegian design studios StokkeAustad and Andreas Engesvik and was inspired by the forests and the lights of the north. I love the form of this exquisite hand blown glass sculpture of seven trees; its simplicity captures the colour and beauty of the hand blown glass.
