Lamps by Decade | 1950’s
Elegant is certainly the adjective to describe the lamps of the 1950’s. It was of course an era of well-designed functional products that will forever remain timeless.
Not forgetting my furniture by decade series, I thought it would be nice to also visit lamps by decade. To me, a room without good lighting always feels like it’s missing something. Not even mentioning the importance of directional and ambient light, good lamps strategically placed around the room are a decorative feature. Some of them are also a good investment and should stay with you for a lifetime. If (on the off chance) they don’t please you later, you could always sell them, at times for a profit.

Hello twenty fourteen indeed! I hope that you all had a great festive season. New Years Eve was celebrated during our week away in the Tapapakanga Regional Park. Guillaume and I put the children to bed, popped open a bottle of champagne and sat outside under the perfect clear night sky looking at the bright stars with the moon just the tiniest of a slither. I saw two shooting stars that night, the first that I’ve seen since I was living in Greece so many years ago. Kind of a perfect sign for the new year don’t you think?

The Swing Arm Lamp
At last we’ve finally unpacked most of our boxes and found a place for all of our furniture! Although we haven’t yet hung our frames and all of the decorative bits and bobs, what we have done, is install our retro swing wall arm lamp. The last time we had it up was in Sydney so we’ve really missed it! It looks so cool and I haven’t seen one like it before – I’ll definitely take some photos in the next couple of weeks to show you, but until then, I thought I’d round up a few of my favourite swing arm lamps:
