my life
Fifteen years ago today…
It’s not often that I get really personal here, but today I feel compelled. You see, today I celebrate fifteen years of marriage with Guillaume. I feel so very blessed to be writing those words. Without getting all mushy here, it brings tears to my eyes just thinking about how very lucky I am.
New Beginnings
I’m sitting on my bed writing this to the sounds of cartons being taped. Thankfully it’s not me doing it. We are expats and because we have to move, a company will pack and move for us. Being what feels like a professional mover, this makes the experience a little bit easier as anyone who has moved house will know.
On The Move (Again)
So we have to move again. Yep, that’s right and it’s an inconvenience to say the least. We’ve been in this house two years now and while we feel a little cramped, I always knew we were on a good thing. It’s in a great location, it’s renovated, warm, and it has the most incredible view that goes out to the Waitakere Ranges.
40 Facts (about me)
A little fun today. Just the other day I enjoyed reading Jocelyn’s 40 facts (about me) post and I thought I will join in too. So here it is, some funny, strange, sad and fun facts about me:
Instamoments #6
Happy Friday everyone! You know that feeling when you’ve had so much on your plate and then it comes to a close and you can finally relax and take it all in? That’s me today, or rather this afternoon.
Turning 40
Today happens to be the beginning of my last week in my thirties. Sounds very dramatic doesn’t it? I have to say that the lead up to turning forty feels kind of strange. I guess when you reach milestone birthdays it’s always the moment for reflection and to take stock on where you’ve been, where you’re at now and where you’re going to. Looking at it like that, I feel blessed for all of the incredible experiences I’ve had to date and most of all for my little family, which is my absolute rock. I also feel so excited for the future, for the direction of this blog and all of the possibilities and opportunities that come my way because of it. With all of that, I guess I need to stop looking at those extra lines around my eyes as something negative and not compare myself to young gorgeous twenty year olds. Those lines make up so many stories and experiences that I hadn’t yet experienced when I was twenty.
Insta Moments #4
The last day of March and time for another little Instagram round up for the last couple of months. Here is a little selection from my feed of late:
Earlier last month I popped into The Vitrine to check out a new addition to their warehouse, another space next door dedicated entirely to restored furniture. Like always, everything in there is swoon worthy and certainly a must to check out. I have to say that if I were renovating a house, I’d beg and plead them for that green door that’s not for sale!
Insta Moments #3
A couple of months have gone past in Instagram land since sharing some of my Insta Moments.
Christmas in Auckland this year was overcast and rainy, but that didn’t stop us having fun. My son’s favourite part of Christmas minus the presents is popping the crackers. In the last hours I realised that I forgot to get some. Shock! I drove around everywhere on Christmas Eve to no avail and in a state of panic managed to find literally the very last pack in Countdown that was sitting in a trolley to be returned to the shelf. Phew! I love this picture that my husband took of me as the cracker popped, I tell you there was a lot of relief in that laugh…
