I’m happy to be back to show some new additions to my plant family for the latest Urban Jungle Bloggers edition. The topic is “Back to School – plants in your workplace”. Well workplace for me isn’t quite defined. I have two places at home where I work from; a corner table in my bedroom when the household gets too rowdy, and the kitchen table. They say that many good businesses began at the kitchen table. I keep reminding myself of that as I dream very hard of having my very own studio.
My most beautiful addition would be this cactus. I gave it to my husband for father’s day recently. If you’re in Auckland, you must go and check out the incredible selection of cacti and succulents at Indie Home Collection. At the same time, I also purchased a little succulent that looks so pretty planted in a decorative glass jar, along with this very delicate green plant in a white planter that was sitting empty for a while.
The cactus takes prize position on the vintage file in the corner of the room. I tend to shift plants around a bit and I have a few that end up here, along with bunches of flowers at other times. It’s certainly a very green space inside and has the view of my back deck which I wrote about here for another edition.
Before I go, I would like to wish Urban Jungle Bloggers a happy 1st birthday! I’ve always loved plants in the home but I have to say, since joining in on the challenge, I’ve become a little plant obsessed so thank you for shining your green light on me Judith and Igor!

It’s nice to see the real life, there are so many bloggers working from the kitchen or living and that is just fine. I have a little side space in my gallery but love to have one day my studio back again. Being surrounded by cacti and succulents makes working just so much easier! Big hug, Mel.
I just love your cactus! You have inspired me to go and get one for myself. Lovely workspace Mel. xD
Thanks Doris, we’ve wanted one for ages so very happy with the purchase. Hope to see your cactus in the next UJB. Mel x
Oh love love your shots Mel! What a series they’ve created. I’m so going to try to get some pics done but they will be SO late. Off to Amsterdam and Woonbeurs Thursday! So sorry for my absence visiting you. Crazy work and blogging not getting too much of a look in, but lovely to be with you again! xx
Thanks Caroline and oh I’ve missed you and your blog posts so much. Can’t wait to see your UJB contribution. So glad that your work is really taking off. Big hugs from Sydney. Mel xx
I LOVE your plants, every single one of them! Your kitchen table is a gem, it looks so comfy to work at! Though I have a studio, I work from the living room most of the time. I need to get something comfy to sit on in the office, other than that: it doesn’t matter from where you work, as long, as the results turn out to be so beautiful like yours!
XO, A.
Thanks Anastasia, such a lovely comment. Mel x
Yay for succulents :) The colour of that cactus is amazing, beautiful. Forever swooning over your kitchen table. Definitely not a bad place to work! xx
Ha thanks. Oh succulents are definitely the easiest in the green family:)

Such a stunning cactus just behind your kitchen table, Mel! And yes, I also believe lots of new ventures started at the kitchen table, so a real studio is maybe “just” around the corner ;) Thanks for joining us again this month!! xx
