It’s been a hectic couple of weeks for me. School holidays arrived what seemed like only a few weeks after the school year begun. Normally I prepare a little in advance for these moments, but with the relaunch of the blog, that all got swept under the carpet.
In the weeks leading up to leaving for my European backpacking adventure, my friend Lee, whom I was travelling with with told me that she was reading this incredible book. I told her that I was reading one also. It turned out that we were both reading “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho. His words forever stayed with me, “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” What was the likelihood of reading this at the exact precise moment without the other knowing? I call it a seal of fate of what lay ahead. I had little idea of how defining this trip would be for my future.
This Wednesday, a sweet smelling service is launching in Auckland. It’s called Bloom Social and I’m certain it will be a hit. Do you know those business concepts that turn up and fill a gap in the market? Bloom Social is that. I haven’t heard nor seen anything like it before now and I think it’s brilliant.
With the weather turning a little cooler in the southern hemisphere, I always turn to soup. Well I lie a little, I do tend to eat soup all year round, but you know what I mean.
It’s been a while since I’ve had a good look at the Hay office supplies. They’ve stepped up their accessories an extra notch again, from an already impressive range. What I love about the Hay collection, is that not only do they look super cool and would make any desk quite enviable, each item is actually very practical.
I had to start with their desk, because while a lot of us would love to have a huge one to work on, it’s not always possible because of our lack of space. For me, having a family of five in a three bedroom house means that I’m using living space to work in. I usually divide my time between the kitchen table when everyone is out, and then hide away in my bedroom when they’re home and I need to get stuff done. It’s not ideal and I’ve been working on getting this alcove in the entry sorted as a dedicated space, hence the hunt for gorgeous accessories. I imagine that a lot of you might be in a similar situation. So without the luxury of having an entire room to yourself dedicated to a workspace, this small and beautifully designed Copenhague Desk would look unobtrusive and stylish placed in a multipurpose room.
